How do you deal with laying down the winner either pre-flop, or pre-turn, etc?
This keeps happening to me, at the time, it's the right move, then i see another card and i ended up with the nuts. It's hard to keep watching this happen, makes me wonder if i'm folding my "luck"...

It's tough to forget about that folded hand that could've been a winner, isn't it? Well, the next session you play, try counting how many times you fold a hand that does NOT become a winner.
That's how you deal.

That IS how i deal. LOL.
But, when you take no pots for whole sessions and just watch the hands you folded boat up, or see the straight you would have caught... it gets a little depressing.
I'm not crying my eyes out over here or anything, i just thought it would be an interesting topic.

It is simply a matter of time and experience, once you decide to fold it is irrelevant what cards come next. All you have to ask yourself is did you make the correct play with the information you had at that time....if so then you are playing good poker. Folding pocket 2s to a raise and a reraise....then two deuces flop can be disapointing, but if you dealt that hand out 100 times how often would you really win. Play good poker and the wins/money will come

It can be very easy to get aggrivated by a hand that would have been made at the turn or river. But think about this the way any good player makes money is by their opponents mistakes. Whether it be a call that gives them terrible pot odds or being able to rep that scare card. Yes there will come time when you have QQ and the board comes A x x and you fold on a pot sized bet and the Q comes on the turn. But theres usually a very good reason you did that (reads and such). You don't want to be the guy making mistakes that others are making money off of. You want it to be the opposite. Just think to yourself was there anyway I'm going to call that bet in hopes of hitting a queen because 9 times out of 10 it isn't coming. And if you betting $20 to see that turn your talking about some serious -EV.
Play on others mistakes and you will see yourself in the positives.

that is the best advice I can give you.
yeah it sucks to fold 74 and then see the flop come up774 but that is poker.
If it wasnt good enough to call that raise preflop its is still a bad hand. even though it completed
so then you start playing bad hands and that is a road to ruin.

I'm just relieved this wasn't a thread about the mechanics of dealing cards.

As long as you have made the RIGHT fold preflop you have nothing to be sad about.
Folding 32o preflop is right, even if the flop is 222, you can still be happy that you are making the right plays.

Iused to play Kx and Qx because I would see flops that gave me great hands after I folded them. Getting beaten with these hands has cured me of this. I have also learnt to lay down a Q high flush at the river (when necessary) by getting beaten by the A high more than once. I got cured of playing Axo most of the time by getting beating by Ax - something higher often enough. Get top pair - poor kicker beaten by TPGK often enough and you will surrender.
The problem is that these hands may win for a while, but after enough hands you will see how truly weak they are. My VP$IP has dropped from 39% to 23%. I play .01/02 NL, don't I look like a rock in there with the average VP$IP around 50%. At first it was hard because I felt like I was missing out on opportunities, yeah right, losing opportunities.
Just my 1/2 BB worth.

ive learned to forget what hand i had if i fold preflop, if its not a "good" hand at the time then why worry about what it was, fold and go on. works good for me.

yesterday, long story short, i folded an inside straight flush draw to heavy betting. would've made the straight flush for a call of ~1/6th of my stack. two other people in the hand ended up going for it on the river, maybe 80 dollar pot i would've had in a .25/.50 room.
sure i don't like it, but i'd do it every time.
