I'm just trying to understand something. At the low stakes 3bb/100 is a modest achievable winrate. At what point if any does that become unrealistic to achieve?

e.g. someone grinds from 2nl - 5nl - 10nl - 25nl - 50nl - 100nl ....

By the time they continue on and are playing 1knl giving the natural progress through the stakes and increased knowledge should it be relatively easy for them to profit at 3bb/100 playing 1knl? how about 5knl?

Just wondering - does it get to the point where the opponents are so good that it's virtually impossible to profit?

3BB/100 is doable, if you're a really really strong player, up until 100nl-ish.
After that, I think the solid regs aim for 2BB/100.

Few things... 3bb != 3BB.

3BB is a considered a relatively achieveable winrate for FR players throughout the micro-midstakes games. However, FR is plagued with regs that just grind out fpps (fpp pros), because it's relatively easy to play alot of hands and make $3k+ per month if you are just breakeven player.

I have a 3BB/100 winrate at 100nl/200nl, and feel I should definitely be able to achieve higher.

So alot of the 200nl players just suck?

5knl doesn't run all the time on most sites. When it's running it tends to be a lot of regs that know each other and a few fish. The fish determine the winrate. I think at that point it's less about grinding out a decent earn and just picking the right times to play. I've heard a lot of talk from 400nl-1knl players about just not playing when there aren't many fish around.
Check out my self-deprecation here!

What Dev said.

Also, as the stakes increase you will run into more "solid" players, the wreckless ones play a little better, but the really big deal is the lower rake.

In California most cards rooms are $1 pre-flop, $5 on the flop plus toke.

HUGE difference between $2/$3 ($300 max), $3/$5 ($300 max), $5/$5 ($1000 max), $5/$10 ($1000 max) in terms of what % of the pot goes into the box.

I think Stacks was referring to the bonuses provided for big FPP players. So, by breaking even, the bonuses become the player's profit.

yah.. Should have said that. My bad.

But if you are saving up for the $4k bonus on Stars, I believe every fpp is worth $0.016. Therefore, if you make around 50k vpps per month, and your SN, then you make 175,000 fpps per month. This is ~$2800 (assuming you wait till you have the 250k fpps needed for the bonus).
