hi
I only started playin poker 2 months ago but in my opinion i am very good

i only play for small money cos I am a student
i play the 10 people tournaments NL taxas hold um 5 dollers pay in. 25 for winner 15 second 10 third
on average I get to the last 3 about 1 in 2 times
and nearly every night i play 2 tournaments and end up
is this a good ratio and how can i make more money with not much risk
I once tried to enter a big tournament with 300+ players in and it was rubbish cos every hand there was someone going all in and I like to play it tight unless i have a good pocket cards then i play aggressive
any help wud be great

first, you most definitely entered a freeroll or something with play money, regular mtt's are not like that.

A lot of the advice you get depends on your bankroll. Just how much money do you have to play with?
i betcha that i got something you ain't got, that's called courage, it don't come from no liquor bottle, it ain't scotch

start reading here. READ EVERYTHING. Start with all the stickies then move on to other posts. read read read read read. this will give you a feel for what it is to play nl holdem, to ask to answer to learn. if you quit reading because it's not interesting to you, then you can't get good at poker. (because you don't like it enough). If you can't read enough and every post makes you think more then YOU CAN'T HELP BUT TO GET EXCELLENT AT POKER - because you love it and you came to the right place.

good luck. In the meantime, have no expectations because you don't know anything. just play and learn and start getting better.

1. You're not a very good player. Accept this and try and improve.
2. You're demonstrating your lack of patience by posting this when everything you're requesting is surrounding you here, now.
3. Try and write reasonably correctly - it makes such a difference to the quality of the site and will get you more sympathetic replies.

Now you've gone and done it... Patience isn't his problem, ego is. Plus you make it sound like a bad thing to be Phil Hellmuth. He's talented (even if not as talented has he believes) regardless of if you like him or not.

just remember its very nice to win, as you are doing and may hopefully continue to.
But its a bitch correction A BITCH when you lose, 15 consecutive. But if you do the stuff aokrongly suggested you wont go to far wrong.

I tallied my loss streak and it was exactly 15. Go figure.

Anyways, read read read, it will do you well. Always analyze your game, not just the hands you lost, but the hands you won as well. Was it a good call? What techniques worked on the table? You'll never be as good as you can, and that's why it's such a great game to play. Good luck!

poker is not a get rich quick scheme. It never will be. Every player has room to improve. It took me quite a while before I became a consistent player. 2 months is definitely not long enough to even judge your playing skills. You could be on one extended upswing. Your friends could be on one extended downswing.

What people haven't mentioned yet is books.

As well as reading every corner of FTR (YOU SHOULD READ A LOT OF FTR POSTS TO IMPROVE, just to drill home the point aok was making even more), I recommend buying, reading and digesting Harrington on Holdem and Harrington on Holdem 2. Two great books for small and large NLHE tournaments.

Good luck, remember not to get overly egotistical, it will affect your play in a bad way, I assure you.

No, you're right, I meant ego (but patience and getting an ego go hand and hand). He is a great poker player, but he is very full of himself (he isn't "Poker Brat" for nothing) and no one likes someone with a big head. It is better to be humble, its +EV
