I actually watched one of these high limit tables for about ten minutes and saw some guy make £5,000 in that time, and another lose around £3,000. It was unbelievable watching people go all-in with £25,000 ?!?!

Do people actually play these games to make money or just for fun? Surely all also 1k/2k players are gonna be at the same skill level and are just gonna end up trading chips back and forth in accordance with variance and with no real winners or loosers?

That is like saying that all pros are the same so they shouldn't play against each other b/c they will eventually just trade money all while losing to the rake. There are just people out there that aren't that good that have some money.
