since vince found this ebook helpful, i thought i'd post it up for anyone else who wants to read it. it's basically an introduction to outs, equity, pot odds, implied odds, and a bit of discounted odds.
it's the first real poker strategy related reading i ever did, before i came to FTR, and i found it easily accessible and explained with the noob in mind

On page 11 the hole cards are Qh Qd which doesn't correspond with the text: "the flush draw has eight outs (the nine remaining clubs minus the Queen of clubs in your hand)"

Like you said a basic introduction to Math.
I think it's a good basic guide for a beginner and will get them satrted in the right direction.
Nice clear basic guide.

Sklansky's essay "Math of Hold'em" is pretty good for this too.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.
