ive read numerous times that you should buy in with 100BB, so at .01/.02c 2$....personally i only take a dollar, and i either lose a dollar or make up to 5$... this is probably only because i have less then 20$ in my BR, but am i making a big mistake, is that a complete donk move to only take 50BB to the table, because IMO that gives me 12 buyins , rather then 6, giving me a wider safety net from a downswing....is my logic on this one off? should i be taking 2$ anyways, or am i doing the correct thing in terms of my BR

Well technically you should have 20+ full buyins for the stakes you wish to play. Therefore, you should have $40 minimum to play at 2nl.

In your situation I'm not real sure what the best option is for you. I personally believe that if you have an advantage in a game you should put as many chips on the table as possible. However, as you are starting your roll and don't have 20 buyins for that limit (or any limit yet) then I'm not sure if you should still put $2 down.

I don't think it's a bad thing if you do buyin for 100bb at all. For one the competition is fairly bad so you will have a greater chance of making more money when you catch a hand. Also, while the money is your entire BR, it's still not that much money therefore you can be a little more aggressive with it imo.

JKDS is on a distinguished road

^^ contains pretty much every argument for buying in with 50 bb or 100bb and has input by alot of the regs here.

and ya, generally you should have more buyin's for your level anyway...but since you only started with 1, what do you have to lose lol. Continue playing 2nl till you have the correct amount for 5nl or 10nl.

Whether or not you shortstack here, I do advise you buyin for 100bb when your BR is $40 at least, maybe sooner.
