Just wanted to say hello to this online poker community and ask for a few tips. I am playing a 100 dollar buy in game of hold em tonight with 6 of my buddies and i wanted to know if you guys could give me some rock solid proven notes or tips that i should keep in mind during the game. I tend to get a little impuslive so a set of guidelines would be a great help to me. FYI only been playing Texas Hold Em for about half a year with pretty decent success but I still have room for TONS of improvement. Thanks

Play tight agressive (ie, only play good hands and when you play them play them HARD), be willing to fold good hands if you think someone else has a better hand, and think each play through before you throw away chips.

I'm sure all the people here better than me will follow up with more specific guidelines than me~_~

Everyone has room for improvement.
If you have played with them before it would help if you would give some information on the types of players they are. Do they all like to limp in before the flop and try to hit something. Is there usually a raise pre flop and only 1 or 2 callers, or is everyone raising and re-raising pre flop with marginal hands like A9 and 44.

BankItDrew will become famous soon enough
Only play premium hands:

limp with 22 - 66, J 10, J Q, J k, Q J, medium suited connectors
raise with 77 - AA, A 10 - A K, KQ, K J

this is how I played when I first started my 6 man tournees. it's a good starting for a begginner.
