Name: David
Hi to all. I am originally from Belgium but I live and work in the Middle-East.
Age: 39
What do you play?
Texas Hold'em NL
At what stakes do you play?
So far, play money online or 10Euros with friends (when we play, BB starts at 0.05 and doubles every 30 minutes)
How long have you been playing?
10 years, but occasionally only
Where do you mostly play?
online (Facebook) or with my friends in Belgium
Why did you come to FTR?
to improve my game and to find out more about online real money games and software
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)?
I would like to start to play small stakes online, but several things worry me:
1) collusion. On Facebook, this is pretty obvious. Lots of people play together. I know that serious online Poker room enforce rules, but I am not quite sure how they can enforce them efficiently with thousands of tables
2) being profiled. I don't like to play for play money in the "serious" rooms, because if I understand correctly all my moves are recorded and databased and people can look up how I play later on. I am not sure if the Facebook games are recorded though.
These two things really make me paranoid.
So I will hang out here and try to find out more. I don't like to bitch in my first post, but one thing about the forum search function is very annoying: can't search "thread titles only". As a result, the search results for a given keyword are often way too large and irrelevant.
Cheers,
David

The more "serious" rooms have more traffic - hence more $$$ to go around... and these stats helps you more than it helps your opponents. Get PT or HEM. It's mandatory.

Holy shit, imagine that. Some people actually use the search feature.

I play for play money on Facebook just for practice, and in the hope not to give away free information about my game to tools like Poker Sherlock (in theory forbidden on some sites). What's wrong with that?
I apologize for starting a new thread with my intro, I actually thought I was posting in the official intro thread you mentioned (my mistake). If a mod feels like moving these posts to it, please go ahead.
And yes, on all forums I am a member of I extensively use the search function, so as not to disturb people with questions that have already been asked.

Yeah, they do that but on the other hand, a while ago, they were thinking of opening floating casinos outside of the territorial waters to circumvent their almighty Shariah!
Construction is pretty much stalled at the moment in Dubai for all the big projects.
All gambling websites (as well as many others) are blocked by the ISP's. I just use a VPN provider in the US to circumvent that.
