I've used a page of an old composition notebook to make a chart to help me with BR management. I have four columns - SB/BB, Max Buy-In, 30X Buy-In, and a 4th column to put a check when my BR reaches the 30x Buy-In at a certain level. In between each stakes, I have another dollar amount between the 30X Buy-In, where I plan to start mixing a little bit of the next limit up with the limit I'm currently playing to get used to it.

I think a little progress chart to keep track of my BR, along with seeing it gradually grow will help me be more consistent with my playing and not throw away money, and will also keep me from trying to move up in limits before I should. Usually I made the level where I start to mix in a higher level at around the 20X buy-in stage.

I think for me, my little notebook chart will work better for me since I have specific "checkpoint" goals that I set myself written down so I can check them off as I reach them.
