Im heading towards my 300th post and when I get there I want to see If I can post something worthwhile , I really need my 300 th post giving something back to the FTR community .

Im going to make a decent stab at mastering Equity and Range precision. And help is definately needed.

BB just sat down 25/25/ over 4 hands

Hero ($12.95)

BB ($5)

Pre-Flop: ($0.12, 6 players) Hero is CO

Everybody limped, so I threw in a raise to tax limers.
Hero raises to $0.25

Everyone folds except UTG (who exits soon) and the BB who flat calls.

Pre flop Range attempt

THe BB flat called my c/o raise . Im guessing its ok to miss out AA,KK,QQ because he would 3 bet presumably.

JJ-22, A2s+, KJs+, QTs+, JTs, T9s, 98s, 87s, 76s, 65s, 54s, AQo,KQo

Is my range realistic ?

Flop: ($0.82, 3 players)
BB checks, Hero raises to $0.85, BB raises to $1.60, UTG folds, Hero raises to $3, BB goes all-in $4.75, $1.75 to Hero

Using these as my temple of study
http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...in-t87954.html
http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...ad-t91945.html

Step 1: Identify the size of the pot.

$8.67and its costing me $1.75 to call.

Step 3: Determine your equity by one of the previously mentioned methods (using PokerStove or others).

His check raise looks like trips or a nut flush draw, but calculating the equity , I think I have to include hands that could get it all in. Even though , I hit my straight.

77.626% { 5h4h }
22.374% { JJ-99, 77, 5c5d, 5c5s, 4c4d, 4c4h, 4c4s, 33-22, AcKc, AcQc, AcJc, AcTc, Ac9c, Ac8c, Ac7c, Ac6c, Ac5c, Ac4c, KcQc, KcJc, KcTc, QcJc, QcTc, JcTc, Tc9c, 9c8c, 8c7c, 7c6c, 6c5c, 5c4c }

equity 77.63%

Step 4: Figure the fraction bet size/(bet size + pot size).

1.75/(1.75+8.67)=0.167946257

fraction bet 16.78%
equity 77.63%

So its +ev.

Is it realistic to include AcKc, AcQc, AcJc, AcTc, Ac9c, Ac8c, Ac7c, Ac6c, Ac5c, Ac4c, KcQc, KcJc, KcTc, QcJc, QcTc, JcTc, Tc9c, 9c8c, 8c7c, 7c6c, 6c5c. because he hasnt comleted his hand yet ?

Is there anywhere im off mark ?

I havent included blockers or anything else , I want to concentrate range and equity .

I kinda miss the pf action and stack sizes...

Not sure why you raise pf, I would think we would want maximum implied odds with this kind of hand.

People can be stupid and slowplay AA preflop once in a while, I don't see 66 in the range you gave him. Rest seems fine considering how stupid 2nl'ers can be.

It's more fun to choose a multistreet hand that you haven't flopped the nuts with vs an opponent who you may have a few reads on.

Thank for the reply.

I took the stack sizes out, thougth it looked tider.
Prflop raise. I was often getting the limers to fold, I pwned the table.
Damn , I missed 66 out, Its what he actually had.I was tweaking pokerstove, must have overlooked that.

Thanks for the reply. Ill let this thread drift into oblivioun and brush up , Ill practice a lot more equity and range attempts before my next post.

Thanks again.

stack sizes, as well as the number of limpers are pretty relevant. when villain raises the flop im shoving..atm u have the nuts there tons of value to be had from various draws, sets and overpairs..just my thoughts. as played its def ev+ to call here...ur around 70% or so given his range here.
btw it would be a set not trips

why are we doing these evals with a made nut hand? i may be missing something idk.

I think you made an attempt to shorten your HHs by taking out a lot of information, but unfortunately we need that information for the discussion.

As for the flop, you have the nuts so why are you trying to calculate whether you should call an all-in? A better exercise would be to try to figure out what the worst hand is you should stack off with.

This isn't directly related to your post but it's still really important for the future. There are two ways we make three of a kind in hold'em using some of our hole cards. When we hit the board with a pocket pair, we call that a "set", and when we hit a paired board with an unpaired pocket hand (ie: KQ on QQ4) we refer to that as "trips". Both hands are three of a kind, but it's important to use this specific language to make the distinction since they are so different in nature.

Keep your effort up and the execution will follow.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.
