As many of you know most GrinderSchool members and instructors are also active FTR members. Well one of those members [Sasquach991] is looking to give back for the help he has gained here, and is willing to pony up for a month's microstakes subscription, so that one lucky individual can browse the plentiful GrinderSchool vids/articles/forums for a month.
We've decided that in order to determine the recipient I would host a private $1 tourney on PokerStars, whereby the winner would receive the grinderschool subscription. I've also decided that depending on the interest and number of entrants, I would be willing to pony up and pay for another 1-2 month long microstakes subscription to be awarded to two other participants, putting the total at a possible 3 subscriptions being awarded.
So I've created this thread to announce that there will be a tourney held in the near future, and to get some feedback on when to hold the tourney, as well as, maybe some boundaries on the players allowed to play.
Obviously, the tourney will be a no-go for freetrollers. If you have a low post count, but are actually here to learn and would put the GS subscription to good use, then by all means play. I will likely email/pm the password out to all entrants before the tourney begins (however, I doubt freetrollers will bother since it has a small $1 buyin fee).

would it be in bad taste to play the tourney for the fun of it (the FTR tourneys are freetroll-packed and the gauntlet is too expensive) and sell the prize if i win?

I'd play in this if i qualify.
I've looked at joining something like this (and leggo) but haven't quite got round to doing it or know whether it's worth it (no offnce to anyone involved, just my thoughts).
A free trial could get me signed up for a lot longer - I'm currently making money at $50nl but wanna improve the many leaks I have.

no and no.
haven't played at FT yet. i play almost exclusivly at Betfair - i got good rakeback and lots of fish.
but enlighten me - free Cardrunner, plus rakeback and a sign on deal could persuade me. I'm coming to end of a bonus at Betfair tomorrow.

A one month microstakes subscription only grants you access to their videos at 10NL and below, I believe. Have to get the full 3 month subscription for access to all content.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong!

I'd definately participate. My previous GS subscription helped me out and I plan on getting back into poker now that golf season is over. I'm still a micro grinder but have aspirations for being a much more intelligent player...

Blackychan has been to irc a few times, and seems like a pretty solid guy. When the tourney time comes, I'll def ship you a $1 for the entry fee, and you're def welcome to play.

Well, as things stand right now, I'm thinking all of the subs are going to be the microstakes 1 month sub, which gives access to all vids 10nl or below. The sub is only approximately $10 for the month, so it's probably not something a 50nler would benefit from, at least not nearly as much as a 2nl/5nler would. And if you think you would, then the price is so low, it shouldn't be a big dent to spend 1/5th of a buyin on a month's sub to check it out.
However, I'm not going to say that you can't participate. If I were in your shoes, I would more than likely participate, and then if I happened to win donate the sub to some worthy individual. I may take a day or two to check out the place to see if I liked the layout, and felt I could learn something from there, and then give the sub up (if this was possible somehow).

This is just another example of the awesomeness that is FTR. Grinder School helped me out a lot. Even if you don't "cash" in this tourney, I highly recommend everyone getting at least a month's micro-stakes subscription. It's only $10 and you'll make it up in one session. Even at $2NL. Seriously. I went from playing 5nl-10nl at the end of July and now I'm already rolled for 50nl in around 30k-ish hands. You can do it too.

I'm planning on playing too. If I win, I plan on donating it to the first player below me in the rankings that doesn't have a GS sub.
BTW, Once you get the micro sub, you can add $10 to it and get the full sub for a month so it's like a half price sub for non-micro players.

considering doing something like a loan-shark setup. But without the shark thing.
I lend micro regs the $$ for a gs sub. They pay me back at zero interest once they move up and can pay for it themselves. Grinderschool gotta love this idea
