Edit: just changing title of this thread to remind anyone who hasn't seen it that the group sweat is tonight (Wed, 13-may) at 9 PM. Meet in FTR IRC channel for details. Scan to bottom of thread for IRC link, if you don't have it.
I've had a few of y'all express interest in watching me play. I don't know why, since I suck at poker. And I don't guarantee anything. But I've got a day and some times I can do it.
Your vote matters. Pick the best time(s) next Wednesday:
[ ] 1:30 - 3:00 PM EST
[ ] 4:30 - 6:00 PM EST
[ ] 9:00 - 10:30 PM EST
I'm suggesting this would be best for the regs at 10nl and 25nl. Sorry if that day doesn't work for everyone. It works for me, and getting time at the tables when I can do this isn't easy with my poker setup and family situation. The 4:30 time slot is my worst time of the 3, though I figure it will be best for the European-based folks.
I'll listen to your opinions (about the best time to do it) until Saturday and then post a time Sunday to make sure everyone has time to hear about it that wants to be involved.

I vote for 9:00 - 10:30 PM EST
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
[x] 1:30 - 3:00 PM EST
if you mean it will last from 1:30 to 3
if it starts "sometime between 1:30 and 3" then another time might be better because I'd like to go to lunch

I'm down for whenever. That's great!
|
OP: Beginner to Master
If I bet as a bluff, I should be thinking "am I getting better hands to fold? Is it likely that he will fold x% of the time to a y sized bet to make it +EV?". If I bet for value, I should be thinking "am I getting worst hands to call? Am I ahead of enough of his range that this is a good value bet?".

The times mean START - FINISH so I can get in at least a solid hour of poker w/ 10 minutes of set up time.

As a euro .......scratch that ....as a Brit ....4.30 slot would be best ....but ....if its another time (or you get inundated with people wanting to take part) are you going to record it and get it posted up along with the other group sweat sessions.

not planning to
could discuss it, i suppose
i don't have any recording software, or know anything about it, except my computer may not have enough muscle to run it plus TeamViewer plus poker software

I believe that since you are subjecting yourself to this that you should pick the time that best fits your schedule. Make other people adapt to your schedule.
BTW, I like the late time

The one that's worst for me is GMT-friendly, and a couple of the guys who were interested live in the UK. I will certainly choose something that works for me, but I'd be interested to have it as accessible as possible.

Looks interesting, I'm interested in watching. Is their a limit to how many people can sweat a player at the sametime? If so and the limit reaches I'll give up my place but if not then I would like to watch. I voted for 1:30-3pm or 9-10:30pm.

I don't think so (anyone know about TeamViewer max conferencing?). In my experience, these things attract interest, but people's schedules always change late in the game and so not all that many people show up.

I would be 100% willing to watch a video, but I have to work when you'd be gettin' the sweat...
If only I had the points to call in sick...

yup ....mikogo and skype conference both limited to 10 people.
camstudio (http://camstudio.org/) is free recording software and would probably be better if one of the attendees ran it.

I'm quite interested in this. I've been back/forth between 10nl and 25nl lately.

If there's a spot open I'd join - 50/100NL myself, but I'm terribad too...
I like the idea of the sweat sessions though, and I think they should be happening more often - as easy as it is to set these things up.

I'd like to participate but being on the westcoast and not getting off work until 7pm. But I would enjoy a video if anybody records it.

I'm interested as well. Been on a rough streak lately and it'd be nice to get a look at how others play. I'm not sure if I can make it, but I'll be sure to try to make time for it if I could.

Voting so far goes...
[ 4 ] 1:30 - 3:00 PM EST
[ 3 ] 4:30 - 6:00 PM EST
[ 8 ] 9:00 - 10:30 PM EST
So, the plan is gather at 9 PM in IRC for Teamviewer/skype codes. Play for an hour, hopefully starting by 9:15 latest and get in an hour-long sweat. The late time actually works best for me right now, given some work/family schedule things that have come up in last couple days.
Technical issues I'd like help with:
1. I don't have a mic on my desktop where I play and have my HUD/database, so I plan to use my laptop/skype for audio and desktop/TeamViewer for video.
2. Given #1, is there an easy way to record that will sync vid/voice tracks?
3. Is there someone who is sure to be at the session that will agree to record and post it?
4. If 5 or 6 ppl are voice chatting, won't it get muddled when they all talk at once? Do you use IM or IRC to post questions and allow the person playing to address them? Or do ppl just speak out when they have a question?
Having never done this, I would appreciate any help you guys could offer in the next couple of days. FWIW on #4, I think I would find a free-fire convo w/ half a dozen ppl during my session pretty distracting. What have others done to make this work well?
My plan is mark any HH's participants wanted to discuss and post them in a thread along with a link to the video, if possible.
Thanks.

OK, I don't have a ton of time before tomorrow - can you post some quick directions for dl or w/e. Otherwise, I'll go with Skype. Still don't have anyone offering to record the video, though.

I think the best way to go about this is not have everybody connected to your Skype. In an ideal world, sure, it would be just so easy for everybody to connect and listen in on your thought pattern as you do things. However, just the idea of watching you play is good enough for me.
For this reason, why not break the Skype into groups? I don't know if you are making a video, but if you are, you'd want maybe three others that would provide insightful (or maybe even alternative) thoughts to go along with yours. That would be your group (and hopefully the video is created so we can all catch this). And in the IRC, everybody else would breakdown into their own separate groups. Of course they would be watching your TeamViewer...but just chatting about your play with different people. Thoughts?

LoL - I am sooooo hoping IOPQ records it!! :P
I checked into vent, but I'm still not sure (Amir) I have authorized access to a server/ventrilo channel, so I'm not comfortable with that.
My plan is mikogo (so IOPQ doesn't cry) and skype. It would be nice if someone did the recording, but I'm not too fussed. I don't have tons of time tonight to fiddle with it. We'll do the sweat and record it if possible. Everyone meet in IRC at 9 PM for mikogo / skype codes. I will also start a sweat thread (different from this one) to alert folks who aren't in IRC. PM me - I'll keep an eye on that if anyone has problems.
