Im playing 5/5 NL now somewhat outside my BR ($4000+) since you can sit down for $500. Whatever, BR management is a guide, not a religion. Anyway...

Yes, it is. Now praise my word!

I'm up $2000 tonight in 5 hours of play. Blah blah variance!!! I know, i realize this doesnt mean I own this game but im positive my game has reached a new level. I feel I pushed people off hands when I should've, utilized position at a new level and made some sick reads. I was able to lay down KK preflop when UTG called preflop and then raised hard when i bet. Easy laydown to some, not so easy to others. Im glad I had no regrets when mucking. I made some good bluffs early on and showed so that people doubted my play. Then I tightened up and took a monster 1k pot when I called $30 preflop with 9s in EP. Flop is A 9 4 rainbow. I led out for $20 and immediately got swarmed by raises to which I pushed when it got back to me. My set of 9s held up against 44 and AK.

I know this is variance but I honestly believe my game has elevated to the next level. Im certainly using position to the fullest and I tend to trust my reads more.

Thats all.

Confidence is very important to winning.

If you don't play with confidence, you don't play at your best.

I honestly think you're 100% right. Sad thing is it took me over a year to fully comprehend the value of aggression and confidence.

Best part is: you're just about properly bankrolled!

My best ring game is when I've just finished heads up in a S&G. I often carry the left over aggression into a passive tight table and play very well.

dumb question from a limit guy: what's 5/5 NL? two equal blinds of $5? what is the rationale behind this? how does it change the game strategy?

i guess it kinda makes sense since nobody ever folds their SB anyway, if the pot is unraised. being a limit player, i used to fold my SB a lot but i realized i was missing a ton of two pairs, trips, and even boats just to save a few pennies here and there.

Confidence and reads. I think you must have improved in the latter for the former to be effective.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.
