I've been an average player online for about 5 months now and have come out almost exactly even. I thought that it might help to have a goal for the month so here it is! I am going to try and make $500 by the end of this month. Of course, this is quite possible the stupidist thing I have done because I have finals this week but eh, I'll deal with it. I started this morning and my status thus far is +9!

Concentrate on school first; poker will be here when you get back. Who knows, the fish concentration might increase with bored college fish getting online.

OK, so you've been playing 5 months at break even. Now you have a goal. What concrete things have you done to change your game to reach the goal? If you continue playing as before, same hands, same tactics, same sites, then logic says you'll have the same results.
What holes do you have in your game?
Can you plug them?
Where and what do you play?
Are there better places and games for your style of play?
Having a goal is good. It will keep you from playing "recreational poker" and that will help. But I'm guessing you're going to need to do more. Fill a couple holes in your game - that will make you some money. Evaluate the quality of your site(s), and look for better sites.
I don't know what type of game you play, but here are a couple ways to evaluate.
SnG's how long does it take to knock out the first 33 - 50 percent of the players? Shorter is better. If it takes 30 minutes at the site you're on, look for one where it takes 20 minutes. That's money in the bank.
NL ring, what % of player see the flop - more is better if you're a tight agressive player. How big are the average pots in relation to the blinds, again, more is better. Party Poker NL ring is horrible because the pot sizes are small compared to some other sites. Again, I'm tight agressive, so I play less hands, and want to get paid off for them.
Anyway, if you do the same things at the same places in the same ways WITH a goal, then you may have trouble reaching it. If the goal prompts you to evaluate everything about your game and capitalize in every way possible, then you will Definately meet it.

I think the goal will help me fix my biggest hole. I would play and make $100 and then cash out 50 and say, "Ok, I've got 50 profit to play around with." I then proceed to lose that because "its just profit." Every time I did I hit myself for being stupid but I kept doing it. Oh, I'm also not going to play drunk anymore. =)
I play Empire, 25 NL and .5/1. I'm going to start bonus whoring tommorow because I just got my Netteller account up. Any advice for that? Is there a list with the best bonus's around?

Well, I just lost my forth MTT tonight! So the leason learned is not to play MTT and rather strick to the $25 NL as I am still up $35 (85 total) for the night.
On another note- I had rockets 5 times, count 'em 5! and they were broken every single time. Ahh...better luck on Tuesday.
