This is not a BR management thread.
This is a plea to all the great guys and girls who give advice to beginners, and much good advice is given and its a testament to the give-back attitude of the folks on FTR.
But can you plz, for fark's sake stop being a bunch of bankroll Nazis? Plz? Is it possible?
Can we just have a little rule where we stop, re-read and think a bit before a dozen of us fire off a "use proper BR management" posts?
You just ruined a guy's thread with a load of posts telling him to sort his BR management out because he had the audacity to only deposit $50 to play $10NL.
There is NO RULE. Let me repeat that so it sinks in: NO RULE that says that you have to have all your available "poker money" deposited at a site.
So when a guy says he's lost $1500 and deposited $50 can we use a few braincells and consider that it might not be HIS LAST $50 in the whole world?
One person asking whether he has enough to handle the swings is one thing. Another suggesting that maybe dropping a level (ASSUMING HE HASN'T) while learning, or to build confidence is another.
Ten people saying "oooh you're not rolled.." gah!
Let's just say, for the sake of argument that 20BI-$whateverdollarstheydeposited = what they have as a "non-deposited roll" okay?
Step 2, let's just see if they are playing okay at that level before we suggest dropping down. If they player is skilled for a level and has the resources to handle the swings then there is no problem.

50$ is no problem at all. The real problem comes from making a bad habit and moving up in stakes with a feeling that playing underrolled is not that bad, usually you can get away with it if you play carefully ... ending with BUSTO.
BBV on 2+2 is full of stories like this. How come that even sbrugby will not take shot without at least 12 BIs and you can justify playing with 5.
FWIW I'm not bankroll Nazi (LOL) but more like BR anarchist. I do play underrolled, I'm aware of my RoR, it's just that it's something that should not be advised to anyone and especially not to beginners. And discussion like this should not be in 'Beginners Circle'.

And even if he didn't we're not talking about taking shots at $400NL we're talking about micro-stakes stuff.
A "you know 20BI is a actually considered a minimum for good BR managment" post is a looooot different from the doom and gloom "You're playing $5NL on $50!?! You'll be living in a cardboard box next week doooood!

Your bankroll is not what you have on a site. It's what you have designated for poker. If your willing to "deposit $1500" and lose it your roll in effect is $1500 and you are BR'ed for $50NL. The 20 BI rule is based on your poker bankroll. "What is your bankroll?" answers, need to include, Earned but not deposited Rakeback, future deposits you are willing to make and any other sources of money that you can use to play.

The post above finally puts into words what my thoughts are on BR management
Your BR is the money you have set aside for poker, if i wanted to, I could be immediately be rolled for $200NL but, I decided a fun little trial with $50 and turning it into $10,000
For me, 10NL is perfectly acceptible. No question about it, if I lost that $50, so be it, I'll deposit another $50. My entire BR is not just limited to the $50 I deposited into this site. I just thought it would be neat turning $50. I am not trying to teach anyone the fundamentals of BR management.
The reason I play $10 ring games and micro buy in MTT's is because that is what I am comfortable with, I can play my game playing with "OMG 20% OF MY BR" as some of you "experts" have put it. I thought I would start a fun little thread (which has by the way turned into a disaster...thanks).
Stupid BR management would be going to play .5/1.0 100NL, with all the money i have deposited into carbonpoker.com. I don't feel comfortable playing those stakes, I am not good enough to play those stakes and win consistently, so therefore I am smart enough to not buy in for more than what I am rolled comfortably for. It's the people who maybe FT'd a decent size tourny they were underolled for (in an entire financial point of view) and took that winnings and immediately thought they could go play 1000NL or whatever and go broke and wonder why they went broke so fast.
