I am looking to get started playing for real money, been playing for free money a few months now and just cant seem to find any place that will accept free money for items

Anyhow, all I'm wanting to start with is 25 dollars. My experience has mainly been in the no limit games. I'm tighter than tight can get.

My question is. Other than Poker Stars (where I have been practicing at), is there any other poker room that has more fish, that allow you to start with a 25 dollar or less investment?

From what I've read here, Poker Stars has fewer fish and is a harder room to play in.

Oh yeah, since I'm only starting with 25 dollars. I'm obviously going to be staying around the .05/.10 or .01/.02 limits. Or should I start off with limit holdem? Limit seems kinda boring to me though.

I do have some experience in real money games. I deposited 25 dollars at Poker Stars a couple weeks ago. Played a few days, playing .01/.02 and .05/.10 and built it to 60 dollars. Then got greedy and moved to .25/.50 and lost most all of it on some unbelievable hands. Like loosing with full house to higher full house. Or flushes to higher flushes, all on the river card.

And one hand was just really out there. I was playing on a 6 player table. I had pocket QJh. There are 3 of us in the game. Flop comes with 2 hearts on the board. Turn card is Ah. Boom I have flush. Only thing to beat me in this hand would be someone else having a heart flush and they would have to have the K. River card is a club. So now I have pocket hearts with QJ and 3 hearts on the board. I go all in with around 15 dollars. I mean whats the chances of someone else having pocket hearts and the K to boot right, especially with only 3 players out of 6 playing. Everyone calls, I'm thinking nice payday. WRONG, all 3 of us had pocket hearts and one of the others had the K. GEEZ, that really didnt sit well.

So Im wanting to try a different place for real money games that might be ranked as an easier place to make money and also will allow a start of 25 dollars or less.

Pokerstars has $0.01/$0.02 ring, which is about all you are bankrolled for - can't imagine the competition on that level is too tough. I just had a look at those tables and there are 40% to %50 players / flop, so a tight strat should see you through.

Apart from stars, I don't know of any other site that does $0.01 no limit.

If you want to play sit & go tourneys, VC Poker / Doyles Room does them all the way down to $0.10 /$0.01. They have loads of low buy in multi tourneys too, so it's a good place to play if you have a small roll.

Are tournies good starting areas? They last quite awhile dont they?

I didnt mind playing at Poker Stars, and did do well playing the .01/.02 and the .05/.10 tables. I might just stay at that then. Poker Stars is the only place I've heard of that allows a 25 dollar start up, most other places are 50 dollars.

One other thing, Im not familiar with SnG tournies, what are they?

SnG means Sit-and-Go. Those are tournaments that starts as soon as they are full. There are single-tables and multi-tables. They play just like a usual tourney, with rising blinds and such. On a 10 person SnG, usually the top 3 places gets paid.

I play at bet365 (dony know any1 else round here who does)
The cash tables start at .05/.1 blinds which aint to bad and there are enough bad players that a tight game does win cash.
The sngs start at .075+0.25 and are a real steal for a tight player. Id reccomend those definatly. I play sng only occasionaly but make a steal at the $2 tables so....
Being a smaller site (i think) than some of the more well known named sites it might be worth a shot as their are few sharks.

I played at Bet365 for about a month, due to the fact they charge $15 for each deposit after your first that month. So not wanting to incur that fee I played there til the end of the month when I could cash out free.

It is part of the Prima Network, one of the larger poker sites there is.

Jimmy Mac and Sandstorm,
I gave SnG a try on Poker Stars. Played one 2 table tourny and one single table tourny.

2 table tourny I finished 8th (it was the first one I played). Could have done better but I slow played pocket Aces when I should have raised enough to just take the blinds probably. Or at least filter out most of the competition. Anyhow lost 3/4 of my pot on that one hand to a guy who was playing wild and caught the river card to beat me.

The single table tourny I won.

Of course they were both play money touries, just to see how I would like them and how folks played them.

One question, on real money SnG's do you get alot of players that just sit out most of the tourny, like you do in free money tournies.

Lol... not unless they get disconnected.

Having said that, I was playing in the $5 R&A at stars, and a couple of guys doubled up, then sat out till the first break, which I thought was odd.

Then later on, this guy had 40,000 chips, blinds were at 600. I bad beat him with a shortstack all in (89s vs KK), and he threw a wobbler and sat out for ages.

Just played 3 SnG's at PokerStars. $1 + .20 5 table.
Finish 13th in the first
18th in the second
8th in the 3rd, one out of the money.

Hand I lost on in third game
me: 99
him: AK
Blind 200/400 ante 25
Limped in
flop was JKJ
He bet 600, I called
Turn card was Q
Bet 400, I called
River: 10
He bet 1150, I called and re-raised my last 30 all in

Tough loss, Im taking a break.

Should I have went all in on opening bet instead of limping in to call the BB? I would have to say probably so, but I hadnt had any luck on pocket pairs in any of the 3 tournies.

I would have folded on the flop bet. Even if your set shows on the turn you may be beaten by Js. Drawing dead is no fun. With PP you flop the set or you fold it.

Agreed, the board was 100% overcards. I would have gotten out one that first bet.

I see. So no one would have raised pre flop and try and catch the blinds? Or was limping in to see the flop the right move, and then fold after the flop since the J's came up and he bet a fair size bet to me?

By the way what does PP mean?

no he called the BB and then I called the BB. Or actually what the BB would be since we was before that. I guess you could say we both limped in.
