Well... after getting myself rolled for 10 NL, I managed to lose half my bankroll in the past week. I was down to around 70 bucks, and already moved back down to 5NL @ Stars.
I've had AA and KK repeatedly cracked lately (not every time obviously, but a lot more often than it normally should), lost most of my recent coinflips with TT-QQ, and as a result have made one of the biggest newbie mistakes possible in making stupid moves trying to play "catch up" and managed to drop myself down even more to 50.
I finally got my crap together though and am starting the slow grind back up. Some of my old StarCraft friends consoled me by telling me about how they lost like 1/3 of their roll a really long time ago and it happens to everyone at some point, so it seems I'm back on track and slowly building myself back up. It just really hurts to go from doing so well to dropping like a brick and having to build myself up. The good things that have come frmo this is it's helped me look at my game so I don't make the same mistakes again.
Don't really know why I made this post, but figured it might help new players who have the same thing happen to them, and I'm sure it's something a lot of regulars who post here have gone through.

Your old StarCraft friends are right, it does happen to everyone once in a while. I've been there quite a few times (due to bad bankroll management, which I am absolutely against - always play stakes that you're rolled for, if not over-rolled) that I've went bust, from $2000 to $10 in a matter of 2 days. I always find a way to rebuild, but it's not worth it to play "catch-up", as you can see what happened to me.
Keep playing the same way that you're playing now, don't be afraid to fold premium pairs; after all, that's all they are - pairs. If you hit a set, that's fine, but you gotta know when to let go, and not get all your money in with AA/KK, especially in lower limits where you'll get the random idiot calling with anything (+EV, yes, but it'll put you on a downswing if he busts you [ex. "OMG how can he call with that?! *reload*]).
Just hang in there, keep playing solid poker, and it'll come around.
Btw, who were you on StarCraft.. if you were on WGT, I'm Trey. If now, I dunno, but I know a lot of people.

I haven't played for awhile... I used the accounts azureXsmurF (on east), ErOs_AzuRe (west), and Azure[AKUTA](west). I switched to War3 when RoC came out, and only played BW occasionally when old friends were on.
I only played the first 4 seasons of WGT, I started out about B5 but by the last season I played was able to get B2. I didn't bother with it too much though and played mostly on west in Korean channels and on Gamei.

Hey dont worry about it. I suck at moving up too. Ive tried to move up to 25NL twice now and dropped $100 each time. When I first moved up to 10NL I lost $40 and had to drop down. The second time I moved up I lost $20 and then I got used to it and just started to win.
Dont know about you but my biggest problem is thinking everyone is going to be a pro and I have to start playing a little tricky, when actually that massive allin actually does mean he hit his set, and his check actually does mean he has nothing.
Stars 10NL people suck trust me. There are a few solid TAGs there but almost all of your money still comes from getting allin with a set, and making healthy value bets with TPTK when you are just being called down.

Starcraft.. my god, the memories . I played some war3 too, but mostly liked to watch replays. Two or three years back I was on staff on warcraftreplays.com; Replay reviewer. Hm, wonder if they still exist. (they changed names later, forgot what they are now)

I was replay staff as well - I think before you were, and I almost asked you if you were on there. Out of curiousity, you were friends with DANGITMAN and LaMbaL on Northrend, were you not? I was buddies with them for a really long time and remember you being in the clan with them, although I think by the time you joined 0ne of their clans I had stopped playing as much. A few summers ago all I would do is play mass custom games against DANGITMAN.

Your name was so familiar, ofcourse it was from wcreplays . And eh, I don't really remember being in any clans.. although the names dangitman and especially lambal sound very familiar. Maybe I just forgot, is possible. Didn't play much war3, mainly liked to watch replays to follow top strategies etc. When I played, I played orc.. Grubby was the best. I'm sure you remember him. Dutch guy, top orc in the world, and local hero on wcreplays.com
