Something that I think is incredibly important in developing your game is having somebody else look at not just your hands but your entire sessions. We had some session reviews awhile back but havent really kept up with them so I thought we should start them back up again.

Anyways, what I think would work best is if we the interested people PM me by thursday night and then I can post the pairings by friday allowing people to put in a session over the weekend. Then on monday we could send our partner the session giving them week to review it and write something up.

If you guys are interested, send me a PM with your game type [full ring or shorthanded] and your stakes and I will figure out the partner situation and post them here on probably saturday because itll get started a little later this week.

Also, bump the thread if you send me a pm just to get more people involved.

Yeaaa, so I was hoping we'd get a little more than this, for now we have 4 people [not including me] signed up for this week and Dahorror said he could do it next week.

Also, FlopTurnThenRivered is included in those but has not given me his stakes or game type and VegasCoop [who is gone until Sunday morning] also has not told me his game type.

So why doesnt everybody here stir up some interest for this and we can get started next week? Ideally Id like to see atleast 10 people to sign up for this so that the pairings will be better, but we will see what happens then.

Alright, so far this is the list I have. If there are question marks by any of your names then PM me with those details.

VegasCoop – 50nl - ?
Zook – 100nl - FR
Renton – 400nl - FR
FlopTurnThenRivered - ? - ?
Andy-AKB – 200nl – SH
Benny999 – 200nl – SH
FlyingPenguin – 25nl - FR

What do you guys think, start this on Monday and then have people put in the session during the week and review it over the weekend or start on Friday? If we start Monday we are goiing to have a smaller number of people involved, we have to wait longer if we want Friday, but we will probably have more people signed up.

Let me know what you think.

Is there going to be a standard format of some type? What's really needed is some kind of attachment with stats on ops for at least important hands if not all, just like a general key or something. While I think reviewing HH is good for players, it will be a lot easier to critique with reads, etc then just say standard +EV advice.

This is something Ive thought about too but I cannot find a simple solution for it. I have a huge database through a lot of datamining so I have very good stats on most of my opponents but there isnt an easy way to send that to the reviewer.

The easiest way is to jsut assume unknown opponents or use the stats up until that point in the session. If there are any questions about a specific hand the reviewer could just ask the person who played the session for the stats and then gof rom there.

Also, this is the updated list as of now for people who have signed up:
VegasCoop – 50nl - FR
Zook – 100nl - FR
Renton – 400nl - FR
FlopTurnThenRivered - ? - ?
Andy-AKB – 200nl – SH
Benny999 – 200nl – SH

PhilPaine – Low limit SNGs
Anosmic – 25nl – FR
-10nl SH – ½ and 2/4 FL
Chris4tw – 100nl - FR
Takesix – 10nl – FR
Dislexsik – 50nl – FR
Genitruc – 200nl – SH

I was thinking of just making a text file with reads and notes on the main players in the session.

Also, these instructions from Pokertracker should help...

Exporting hands from a session:
"Session Notes tab, double click the session you want to export. Go to Game Notes tab, click the Get All button, then click the Export button."

Replaying all hands from a session:
"If you select the session on the Session Notes tab and sort the bottom data section that shows all the hands for that session by game number so the lowest one is first, then click the "r" button, you can replay all these hands. Using the arrows at the top left of the window to go to the next hand or using the "Auto-Play" checkbox in conjunction with the ">" button that auto-plays each hand rather than you stepping through it."

Alright guys, Im going to be posting the pairings later tonight/early tomorrow morning. Id suggest contacting your partner via PM and getting their AIM/MSN/Email, etc from them so you can contact them a bit easier and then you guys take it from there.

Ideally, I would like to do this weekly so the schedule would look something like this:
-Friday through Sunday: Put in a session and send it to your partner
-Monday through Thursday: Review the session and send it back to your partner

Then the cycle would start again next friday with new partners. This may sound like a lot but really its not much because you guys are playing anyways and the reviewing process takes about an hour or so. However, if you dont want to do it weekly but would instead do it every other week, or whatever, then just PM me and Ill make a note of it for the next week.

As for the general format of the reviews, here are a few "rules":
-The session should be around 200 hands, if you play mutiple tables then jsut sned one table or two or however many until you get around that amount
-The easiest way to read a review is to take out the trouble hands and convert them into a text output using one of the converters and then putting them in a word document and making your comments in bold or another color
-If you want to write a response of sorts to your reviewer, go for it. Change the color of your text and just add to the review and ask questions, make comments, etc.

Also, one quick question. What do you guys think we should do about threads? Should we have a stickied FAQ thread that explains it and then we make a new thread every week or just keep this one thread? Also, if we make a new thread every week, should we have everybody automatically sign up unless they "opt-out" or just start from scratch every week?

I like new threads. And I think people should be automatically signed up until they opt-out.

Alright, here are the pairings for the session reviews. Contact your partner as soon as you can and get things figured out.

Some of the pairings are a little lopsided but its the best I could do. Also, PhilPaine is still looking for somebody who plays low limit SNGs to go over things with and FlopTurnThenRivered, I still dont have your information.

VegasCoop and Cardsman1992
Dislexsik and TerryToma
Genitruc and Benny999
FlyingPenguin and Freechus9
Anosmic and Takesix
Zook and Renton
Chris4tw and Dahorror
Andy-AKB and Thnwkd

On Monday I will start a new thread using the list of everybody that signed up for this week. If you arent on it and would like to be then post in the thread or PM me, and if you are on the list and dont want to be, do the same. You will have between Monday-Thursday next week to sign up or opt out.

Based on previous experience I'd say that the best method for sharing HH is absolutely to use PokerTracker.

It's fairly straightforward to go and pull out a session or two to text file and send them off.
Then the other person can import them and go through them with a replayer.

You can go to the trouble of sending seperate PT databases back and forth (e.g. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...t=1&PHPSESSID=)
but I don't think it's necessary.

There was more in Pelion's old HH-swap thread.

A seperate file with comments is good (include a HH ID number, which is easy to look up in PT or do a "find" in a text editor).

Of course if you don't have PT it's a pain (but really, you are wanting to analyse sessions but haven't bothered to even download the trial version of PT?) and if you're on a non-PT site that could be an issue.
Blah blah Op Blah blah

Faith in Jesus Christ is +EV. That is all.

what do you guys think about posting your a new thread for each of our pairings?? i was thinking about playing 2-300 hands at paradise, getting them all sent to me in an email.. and converting them all at once to FTR format using

http://www.neildewhurst.com/hand-converter

while yes, dislex has to read and comment on my hands it allows others to do the same..

I don't think anyone on this forum is going through a post with 2-300 hands, especially if they're already doing a session review with someone. You and dislexsik could pick out four or five interesting hands, but I autoskip posts with any more than that.

ok, but im also saying as a formatting issue it might be easiest if we can post on a thread here after we cut/paste/convert/cut/paste into a thread..

I can do this for next weeks review, you will probably be paired up with me, benny or genitruc. That helps because we had an odd number of 200nl SH players and not really many in between.

Are we pairing up again starting today for the next two weeks? Haven't seen anything yet, but I would like to.

I am playing a mixture of $50 and $100.

Yea we are going to pair up today. I got literally 2 and a half hours of sleep today, had a big test over something i knew nothing about so it was a lot of studying. Anyways, right now im exhausted so Im going to take a nap, I will make the pairings when I wake up.

Also, I want to keep doing this but I want more people to sign up so that we can have a bigger pool to pair people up with. How do you think we can get more people signed up for the next review?

I am not sure about how to increase signups. Maybe some of the admins could help us out by advertising (kind of like the book club)?

Also, maybe a thread where we discuss results/findings? Not quite sure what this would entail, just brainstorming a little.

I know this has proven helpful to me, not only by the advice I get, but my own analysis forces me to think more concretely regarding hands and strategy.

lol. Judging from how much traffic the Book Club gets, you may want to find another way.

I think it will gather more steam as it goes along. Andy, you could also cross post an announcement in the Hand Histories and 6-Max Forums, maybe.
