In case some of the people new to FTR don't know, we have a poker league that's going on right now.

http://www.flopturnriver.com/poker-league/

It's really a lot of fun and a great way to play against some pretty good players. Occassionally you'll get a chance to play against really great players such as gabe (plays 25/50) or lukie (what the heck he's playing these days I don't know, although I think it's 10/20). gabe played last Wednesday, I bet it was fun to bust him

The point I'm trying to make is that for a lot of us, this is the only time we'll ever be playing a tournament of this caliber (calibre if you're British ) for such a low price. It costs $5.50 to play each game, and FTR does not make a penny ($5 towards the prize pool and $0.50 to Poker Stars for rake).

Another great thing about these games is that players who have more experience playing donkaments than you will watch you play and be able to make comments on your play after the game. After the game is over, just post some hands in the Gauntlet forum and ask for some advice. You will get it, the people here are great and very helpful.

So play! I want to see more participation in these! I am very busy with work these days and it's hard for me to play, but I have been doing so whenever possible. I don't know if I can this Wednesday, but I'll see what I can do (maybe I'll register and show up late?).

The games are on Wednesdays and Sundays, 10 pm EST and 3 pm EST respectively. There's still time to play 12 games and have a chance to win the trophy. Even if you're like me and can't possibly play 12 games this season, it's still really fun to play and chat with your fellow forum members at the table. The Gauntlet is one of the reasons I got to know a lot of the regulars on this forum today, and it's one of the reasons I was welcome into the community (and eventually was able to gain respect and become a mod ). It will be a great way for you to get to know some people too, if that's what you'd like.

Okay this post is long and rambly now. I apologize. If you have any questions, please post here or PM me. Otherwise, go register for the Wednesday tournament which is game 12, it's up on Poker Stars already

Hi! Thanks so much for PMing me

You don't have to sign up via FTR to be eligible to play in the Gauntlet. Basically you go to Stars, get an account, and then you register in the Gauntlet forum by posting your username so that Xianti can add you to the league. Then you just play and your points are tabulated and you can see where you stand. It's a lot of fun and really easy.

Download the Poker Stars software, get a SN, and then go to the Gauntlet forum and register. If you have any problems, feel free to PM me again and I'll see if I can help you out.

Good luck!
Courtney
I made this post just in case anyone else has the same question. Anyone else with questions please post in this thread or PM me.

Thanks, courtie.

But it would be nice if they went to PokerStars through one of our links.

I just started playing the Gauntlets and believe that they will be a lot of fun. You see all kinds of playing styles including some semi-maniacs.

I'm in another site's league as well. There we not only compete individually but also on teams. It makes for some fun railbirding commentary.

I see a lot of similarities between this forum's league players and the other. Lots of good players out there to try to out think and out play. Looking forward to continuing.
Once all-in and called, you are simply at the mercy of the cards.

I like the Gauntlet because they're restealaments and it's fun to think of ways to get people's chips rather than just conventional steals (since those don't work as well anymore).
