Regular Texas Holdem tournament.

$0 to join, and the winners will split $5,000 as the prize. It's going to depend on the site to determine how many places will pay, and what those places will be, but it will be weighted so that 1st places pays the most, and after a certain place, no one gets any money.
I don't know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway.
Whatever it is...
I'm against it.

Just keep in mind that since it's free people will be going all-in at the drop of a hat. Sit back and relax and only play top 5-10 hands until later on. You will avoid bad beats that way and maybe win some free money.

guitarhero nailed it r8ed. The Real Problem with the early rounds of a freeroll is that your chips go in the middle so frequently that even if you have a decent edge Every Single Time it's a crapshoot whether you'll get very far.

Say you're always a 75% favorite. Only a 42% chance you'll win 3 of these in a row. If you do, you're obviously in good shape. If you lose one, you're either out (if it was the first one) or hurting.

Generally you want to be playing uber-tight in the first hour of freerolls, then as the bubble nears and the play gets retardedly weak, start stealing blinds rippy style.

I'd like to add to my comment:

This phenomenon affects any tournament with >1,000 participants. Everyone is a longshot. The skilled players are slight favorites but still longshots.

I think the WSOP buyin should be increased to at least $50,000, to try to get fewer than 1,000 people in it and counteract this. Discuss.
