OK, I think I know who will answer what. But this should lead to an interesting topic.

I think a lot of the newer players will follow their cards. But the older players will not watch, or study others.
I don't know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway.
Whatever it is...
I'm against it.

Ok I will follow the cards, if I have nothing else better to do... Other than that I am too busy flipping through the 3-boards or watching tv

I will not follow the cards for the simple reason that I hate to know if I folded a winner. I multi-table 90% of the time that I play so I usually have another table to make a decision at anyway.

I love the what ifs! Gives a sense of irony and poetic justice to my life.

And I dont multitable becuase my screen is so small that its just too much of a hassle. 6max baby!

I only pay special attention in a couple of cases. First, if I lay down a small pocket pair preflop to a raise, I like to see if I would have hit a set on the flop. The other time is when I lay top pair down when I'm *sure* someone hit a flush or a straight on the turn or river. Then I watch the showdown to make sure I made a good call.

As far as studying players - I don't do too much of it, although I do like to try and pay some attention to what kind of hands they are raising with preflop. Every now and then you will get the Axs raiser, and I need to know who they are so I don't lay my AJ down when they PFR.

Otherwise, if I notice someone is not playing very many hands, I'll take a quick look at PokerTracker and check out their play. If I see they are solid, I will make an extra effort to stay out of their pots with marginal holdings. This does not take much effort, but I've found I can't do it if I am playing more than 2 tables.

Except in those cases, I am cruising FTR for new posts while I play.

If I'm not multi-tabling, looking at an interesting hand (as has been mentioned above) or reading FTR ( :P ) I'm looking at the other players and taking notes.
If I had a hammer
I'd drop in the morning
I'd drop in the evening..

I'll watch other players and how they play out the hand. I used to remember my cards but I discovered it was just making me play badly when I started gambling on hands that I had folded (correctly) before. Now as soon as I muck a hand, it leaves my mind. I literally forget the cards, the suits they were - everything. And in a live game, I push them up under the muck to make sure I don't go digging for them later. I just don't want to know what I folded away, because it's never meaningful information.

Exactly - take notes on who plays K-6, Q-7, unsuited connectors, A-x off suit. Who always raises on the button, who will fold to a reraise.....I generally do not rabbit chase, I just keep a lot of notes on people.

BTW, does anyone know if there is a limit to how many notes you can put on one player at Poker Stars?? I imagine the file is on your computer, so there is really no limit - but I am curious. (Some players have a ton of notes - some just a couple lines)

The frustrating thing about keeping notes at Stars is that I never have run into a noted player again Maybe I just haven't been playing long enough...

That's probably the case - I've played about 8K hands at Party now, and I just about always recognize one of the players at the table. Especially the sharks.

As a follow up to this thread. I'm kinda surprised by the results.

I expected most of the votes to be for "Yes, I follow my cards" and "I'm not watching the screen" I didn't exect so many people to study the others at the table.

It depends whether I'm having a conversation on MSN or the BRAND NEW FTR CHATROOM!!!

If not, I usually follow my cards and then end up crying when I fold 22 to a preflop raise and the flop is A22.
