Do you ever fold like this if you have no read on someone?
Calling seems crappy with no read, because then what, c-bet? and if you are called...maybe he floats, or maybe he is smooth calling with AA or a set. And reraising to rep AA/KK gets tricky with no read too.

I'd never fold AKs here - you have position on him too. There's 1/3 you'll hit "something" on the flop that allows you to stay in there, possibly the nut flush draw. If you miss.. well see what he does. And remember this, you have to call $1.75 into a $5.5 pot here (or $2 into $5.85?), or around 1/3, which is your chance to hit the flop, so you have odds too.
Btw he can't float you here.. he doesn't have position and he isn't calling you. He can be overplaying a weaker hand though, and rep AA/KK after. But see a flop and his decision first.

With no read, I would fold an offsuit AK. I would call with suited in position. I would give him the benifit of the doubt if he bets the flop hard and you didn't get a piece of it. I would never Reraise, which I see surprisingly often at my stakes.

Hell no! At a full table folding might be an option, but 5-handed I'm never folding AKs here. You have position, so call and play some poker.

position, plus the fact your in CO, a stealing position makes this an easy call.
sadly id add the fact that its sooted (no im not kidding) so its worth taking a flop.
If the guy hadnt reraised before over a significant number of hands then maybe i would be looking at a fold, but unlikely.

How often do you see people reraise preflop from 25nl up to 200nl just because the raiser was in late position?

this is some really messed up logic here.
Independantly of that, you have more then a 1/3 shot of hitting "something".
OP - I think this is a pretty easy call against all but the nittiest of nitty opponents.

looking back, i don't like the idea of folding either. also, my bad saying something about floating. for some reason I looked at the hand history and thought I was OOP. And I hope this hasn't been talked to death, but I had trouble finding a thread.

I know you made a post that made a lot of sense to me about AK but couldn't find it.
The thing is, I don't get everyone here except chardrian saying they would call rather than reraise or fold in this spot, even in position, if you have no read. Aren't the odds of villain c-betting very high? In that case, the 2/3 time you miss, you fold to the c-bet since you (or villain) have no read, right? Then the 1/3 you hit, you don't know his range/typical actions.
My default so far was to 3-bet in spots like this pre flop. He definitely could have put me on a steal, but last night I was playing uber-cautious until I got a read and decided to fold with the logic of calling would be worse then folding, but I'm thinking reraising is better than folding... "especially 5 handed" and he easily coulda thought I had crap.
I just don't get how calling has the highest EV. Doesn't reraising give higher value via cards, position, fold equity, and information?
