You have a nut flush draw and a mid pair on the flop with A showing.
You put your opponent on an A. For example
Ks Ts
Ah 9d
Flop: As Th 2s
How do you play this type of a hand with and without position. I am always tossing in bed thinking is it better to play it very hard from the flop or just call and hope to hit one of your outs.

If you only put him on Top pair then you may have:
2 outs for another TEN.
3 outs for another KING
9 outs for a FLUSH.....
You are +50% to win this hand if you see both cards. [If villian only has TP]
I'd bet if I were OOP, or raise if I had position.
That's just me...

I agree with the bet part and the raise part but here is the tricky question. How much do you bet to:
a) maximize your winnings when you do have all these outs (fold equity+hiting one of your outs)
b) when a villan has one of your outs i.e. AK

I had this scenerio lastnight 3-way post-flop with a raise pre-flop. I'm in position and min bet, everyone folded.
I like this had because if you min bet and someone hits top pair or a large piece, you can come back over the top when he raises. I have no problem pushing on this flop.

Push that flop as well for the act of deception. Much harder to put someone on a flush draw when they reraise you. Plus you might get the turn card for free, especially if you have position.

It's a very interesting position because you need certain fold equity to make this +EV play because on occation you run into a set or made 2 pair.

Whatever you do, I think calling a bet is the worst of all options.

What are the stacks like? What was the preflop action? If you know villian can lay down top pair, then you really want to get to the point where you push on this flop. I like a bet/3-bet line. In a 100NL game, say you lead for $7 into a $10 pot, he raises to $25, and you shove for $75 more to him. It's very hard for him to call with just top pair here. You could CR this flop, but if you don't CR all in, and you get called, it puts you in a very ugly position on the turn if you miss. CR'ing all in is okay I guess, but it's such a vast overbet, and usually that's not a good idea. That's why the bet/3-bet line is the most effective IMO since your push has a ton of fold equity, and at the same time it's not an overbet. However, I don't like doing this as much with pair + flush draw type hands, because often times your 2-pair outs will be tainted.
