At least ask a question or something?

If you advocating a fold, there is no way you can get away from this. Even if he does have KJ you still have 10 outs to pair the board and make a FH/Quads.

His range is a lot bigger that KJ, most the time you will be ahead here. Just call and say NH if he has the made straight.

call
If he has KJ or 8J (the only hands that beat you at this stage) he shouldnt have raised 3* BB from utg if he did you have to smile and get him next time.
If he has a flush draw you have to be glad to get your money in.
my guess is he played an overpair badly AA or KK but he did seem to like the 9.
We all make good calls that lose but in my opinion it was a definate call.

sorry about that. I meant to ask if this was a fold since the board is quite connected and the turn could have filled a straight.

After the hand, he berated me and told me I should "stop making pot-size bet and go learn to play poker" (he has a point about the learning). Anyway, his comment made me questioned my call.

you have top set w/ 10 outs to a boat/quads. you call his shove. if he has the straight, so be it.

and SCREW him for berating your style. whether you are a rookie or a pro, he was just trying to "psyche you out" and get you to change to HIS style. tell him to F-off and start making 125% pot bets. charge his ass big time. start stealing his blind from anywhere w/ anything decent. start pissing him off when scare cards hit. and tell him to "learn how to adjust to the opponent." dont give in to that crap.

you are at $2 NL...not exactly the place where math takes precedence. down here you can get away with a lot of things you cant anywhere else. take advantage of that!

you are almost getting the odds to call if you are 100% sure he has a straight. That it mind plus he's probably crazy or just overplayin 2pr type hands this is an easy fold.

BTW, I really like the betsizing potting each street, you were going to get full stacks in on the river had he just not pushed the turn.

TLR is an unknown quantity at this point
You have to call it

Two points:
1. With QQ reraise preflop, you want to get heads up, if he has AA/KK so be it
2. Just for the record 68 also completes a str8, however even total noobs usually dont raise 68 or J8 from UTG

yes

A straight would have to make up more than 80% of this range here and with his PFR I just don't see him holding those hands.

I wanted to tell him to keep raising KJ under the gun. But I got to thinking that I actually want him to keep raising KJ, so I didnt say anything.

You need to be 3-betting QQ preflop - It's the third best hand in holdem dude. Rest is fine, now call

if you do decide to say stuff (sometimes it pisses them off more to stay silent), jsut say things like, "yup, youve got a good read on me, now." or, "i thought betting the pot was standard? its not?" also, end your comments with a wink, or the old LOL.

dont start telling him how to play (even if youre being sarcastic), and dont start cursing at him, either (not that you did). you want him thinking you are a complete dipshit, and that he can crush you by showing too much aggression. thats when you stick with solid play, and let him give his money to you.

it never hurts to get chatty with him...and then drop in the "i'm not usually this chatty. its prolly the beer."

and show him a crappy hand from the blind that hit a funky 2 pair. something out of your ordinary.

that stuff wont work against the thinkers, but this guy didnt seem like one.

Turn off the chat, if you suck at tabletalk.

Insta-call (yawn).... no-brainer. Nut re-draw against straights, and you crush any other hand in his range.

If you had :Ac: :As: or covered 200BB+ behind, then you can call it "tough decision".
