Whats the best line to get it all in, in both these situations.

Hand #1

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

UTG ($39.93)
MP ($15.94)
CO ($23.40)
Button ($23.75)
SB ($26.86)
Hero ($27.65)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 7, 7. SB posts a blind of $0.10.
UTG calls $0.25, MP calls $0.25, CO calls $0.25, Button raises to $2, 1 fold, Hero calls $1.75, UTG folds, MP folds, CO folds.

Flop: ($4.85) T, A, 7 (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $2, Hero raises to $5, Button calls $3.

Turn: ($14.85) J[img]
Hero bets $20.65

Hand #2- I cant get the converter to work but there was six people in the hand, folded around to the button.

Hand 2 is fine, BB is pretty shortstacked. Hand one, I don't know if you need to push the turn, he probably has a decent ace, and you have two more streets to milk him.

I like to mix up between leading and check raising with my sets, in general i prefer leading as low stakes donks give you no credit for a hand when you lead into them. If you checkraise, some players are capable of finding a fold with a medium strength hand. As always though, the answer is "it depends"

If you do some searches, there are loads of posts on FTR regarding leading vs check raising with a big hand.

Forget "massive overbet" as I didn't see stack size in Hand 2. Hand 1 is definitely not optimal though. A c/r followed by an immediate push is about the easiest way to get someone to fold.

On hand 1, with a PF raiser and an ace coming on the flop I like leading out. It gives a hand like AK, AQ a chance to put a lot more money in the pot.

Hand 1 make a weak bet, if you get raised 3 bet, if you get called C/R turn. If he doesn't have an A you won't get paid anyway. Hand 2 you need to find a way to stack him, you aren't risking much if he does happen to draw out on you. I would have called turn and put him AI on river.

Betting more than the pot is just unecessary in both instances it seems to me.

You could bet half the pot in hand one and if he calls he's got pretty much no fold equity left.

For hand two a $5 would be easy to call and leave him no option but to stack off on the river.

Plus personally I don't like pushing my stack in when I've got such a large stack advantage; it seems counter-productive (unless it can be interpreted as "bullying").
If the guy has 6.50 left in front of him I'd rather bet 5 and let him decide to push.

Don't know if I can offer any evidence for this, but it just seems to work wel that way.
