Post subject: FL vs NL

Right off the bat I admit to being a fixed limit player. I would like to be a NL player, but too often I get a good hand, not the nuts, but good, and some bully goes all in and puts my entire session BR at risk. I might have 2 winning sessions at NL and then lose my entire BR on the 3rd. that sends me scurrying back to FL. S0o how do you NO players handle this situation, you have a very good hand but not the nuts and someone puts you all in? If you don't call your opponent will learn that he can bluff you off a hand. If you call and don't win, bam!! by the way, I play very small stakes, .50/1 at NO and 1/2 at FL.

Then you should probably play at lower NLHE stakes.

yep, thats no limit.
If you dont know weather they are bluffing or not, and they dont bluff too often, then fold.
In limit you can afford to play big pots with good cards, but in no limit you dont want to play big pots unless you have the nuts, or know where you are. Therefor you will fold a lot of good hands, even though you might win, but on the other hand you can bluff way more often in no limit.

Sounds like you have issues with bankroll management, putting your opponent on ranges, and estimating your equity against those ranges.

switching from 1/2 FL then you should be testing the NL waters at 25nl tops. Read the stickies in the appropriate forum (full ring or short handed), tighten up pre-flop and from the blinds and you'll probably be fine.
also, re-visit pot odds. You almost always have odds to draw in FL, but NL is different.
