So tonight, a friend is bringing me along with him to an informal tournament around town. This will be my first time playing with physical stuff like cards and chips.
I'm pretty nervous!
More about the mechanics of the thing, and the norms of playing with live humans, than about the poker.
Of course, it's my first tournament style game of any sort... I was planning on playing some online tournaments first to get a feel for the dynamics of that, but then I had this PokerStars debacle, so I'm waiting for that to sort itself out.
Anyway... I'm looking forward to the excitement of adding the element of body language, facial expressions, and conversation into the mix.

Sounds like a good opportunity to have fun, so don't take it too seriously and have fun!

I did have fun.
It was also my first time playing tournament style, as I've just been playing cash games online.
I was pretty nervous at first, and I did misdeal at one point, but overall I didn't crash and burn.
I didn't win either--but it was certainly fun, and while I tried to apply the concepts I'm learning here, I could definitely see the times I fell off the bandwagon were the times I lost money.
