is this something that is allowed ? tonight in a nl cash game i made a big bluff when a scare card came on the river.....the guy sat there forever deciding to whether or not to call....finally lifted his cards up in the air exposed directly at me as if he was showing me what he was folding....i don't remember what my reaction was but all of a sudden he was telling me that he called.....after that all i think i said was 'oh, i thought you folded' ...immediately the guy raked in the chips and went off on me...he said i was out of line and that he didn't like the way i was playing. my only reaction to that was 'oh, i didn't know that was within the rules' needless to say after that i was tilted and pissed away the rest of my winnings and lost my original buy in after being a 95% favorite before the river when all the money was already in

mmmh, it seems like he was using a tactic, he wanted to see your reaction, if he senced you were scared, or weak, he would say "i call" like he did, So i think you gave something away. If you stood firm he might have continuted and folded it with just a flash of the cards.

i had no idea that sort of thing was allowed...i am really good at letting my face go blank for however long it takes for someone to make a decision...but this was the first time i've come across that tactic so i must have reacted because in my mind the hand was over when the cards were up

And you didn't hop across the table to kick his ass, why?

It's not against the rules to expose your cards for everyone at the table to see, except where house rules prevent it.
At the CPT event in Halifax last year when it got heads up, one guy would turn his cards up every hand to get opps reaction. The CPT has since banned this tactic.

I don't see anything wroing with it ... if one can get a reaction by turning over cards, more power to him.
