my current roll is approx 280....is it + or - EV to use 55$ of that to purchase HEM?....i have no extra funds atm to purchase it...so the only way to acquire it would be to subtract it from my roll....

Have you used up the HEM free trial? What about the PT3 free trial? If not it would seem rather retarded to use so much of your roll to buy a program when you have free trials available.

If you have used the free trials, I would say no. And that I would wait a little longer, so I don't have to spend 16% of my roll on a program.

Well, to be honest it's a bit of a dumb question because it's a personal choice. Have you tried the free trials for both HEM and PT3 yet?? If not I strongly recommend doing so until you have the funds available outwith your BR to purchase one of them. Ideally you don't want to withdraw money from your BR at such an early stage and if your using proper BR Management guidlines you won't really need the software so much at the micro levels your playing but it is still useful...

Just buy HEM or PT3 right now, you will still be at 5NL or whatever and should be able to easily make $58 in a week or less. You need to start tracking your game and there's no better time than now.

how many tables do you play at a time? IMO, unless you are running quite a few tables at once (say greater than 4-6) then as long as you are paying attention, you should be able to identify the critical stats within HEM or PT3 (such as who the LAG's, TAG's, fish, etc. are) without the software.

I just don't think at the micro stakes you run up against the same people enough to get meaningful stats out of that player.

Now, with that said if you still want to purchase it (and btw, I use it at the $50NL ring and $20+ SNG levels on 4 tables) then my suggestion would be to buy it in lieu of moving up a level. For example when your roll gets large enough to move up to the next level, instead of moving up then you purchase one of the two packages.
Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.

You sure this wasn't just that you'd reached the max. amount of observed hands and you had to wait an hour? Or did you upload lots of hands onto the software??
