2 questions:
1. Do you feel that Pot Odds are more or less important in MTT vs Ring.
2. Somebody give me a good example of how to bet to keep the other guy from having good pot odds. Calculating pot odds and eliminating them are a weekness I need to work on.

1.equally important ..
2.
remember when u bet
2xthepot --your giving 3to2 pot odds
pot size---2to1
3/4 pot---7to3
2/3 pot---5to2
halfpot--3to1
1/3pot--4to1
1/4pot---5to1
if you feel someone is drawing ..you want to bet somewhere from 2/3 to 3/4 the pot..

They are more important in ring games. There are many more things that are MUCH more important than odds in a tournament game, whereas they are EXTREMELY important in a cash game.

Im not sure its that clear cut. In NL cash games implied odds are more important than pot odds. Maybe its arguing semantics, but there is a difference.

I don't have an answer to question 1 'cuz I rarely play MTT but I can give you a place to start on question 2:
Here's a scenario:
you're dealt JcJs on the button.
UTG and CO limp, others fold.
You make a standard bet (in NL, I'm throwing out at least4x the BB). Blinds fold, the limpers call.
Flop is 2d6d9h. It's checked to you.
I suggest you bet 2/3 the pot. If UTG or CO are drawing to diamonds they have roughly 36% chance to make the flush by the river.
You want to make him pay more than 36% of the pot to see those cards.
Trust me, you WILL get some dumbass callers even if you make it expensive. That's ok, because they will pay a heavy toll in the long run. If you do a site search on FTR for drawing odds and pot odds, there are several really good posts and charts on this site that will give you a lot more depth and analysis. GL

1. How dont know about imortance, since pot odds are important in both, but I would say that since MTT has the 'survivability' factor in it that ring games does not exist chip conservation often takes precendence over pot odds.
For example, assume you limp from the button with KQd on the first hand of an MTT with 5 people seeing the flop, preflop pot is 100, everyone have 1480 chip.
flop is Ad6d3c,
villian 1 goes AI
villian 2 goes AI
villian 3 goes AI
villian 4 folds
actoin is to you.
Pot is now 100+1480+1480+1480= 4540.
so pot odds wise you have to call
in a ring game I call this in a heartbeat
in MTT I fold
You have a draw to the nut flush, and lets count 8 live outs, since the 3d may not be an out, you have 32% to win the pot.
