After tracking my play for the last week, I have realized something that should have been obvious.
But first some background…
I’ve been away from poker for a few months, and before I took the break I decided to withdraw most of my bankroll (just leaving some to rebuild with when I had time to start playing again[big bankroll error that I paid for]) This left me with just a few buy-ins in my bankroll, and after hitting 2 bad beats and one bad read, I had nothing left at party poker.
Then I remembered a piece of email I had received a little while ago…
Quote:
The World Series of Poker qualifying level tables have closed!
We see that you still have tokens to play in 1 or more of these levels and have therefore decided to refund you on your tokens.
Your account has been credited with $5.50.

So, I started trying to rebuild by bankroll on 7Sultans with just $5.50. I was careful to keep track of how much I sat down with and stood up with at each table in a spreadsheet... After increasing my bankroll from $5.50 to $106.00 in less than a week, I checked the average profit from each table.
I what I saw stunned me! The average profit per table was just .46!!! (note: this includes my PP losses)
That tells me that the difference between great player (10BB/100) and an average player (4BB/100) is just one or two decisions an HOUR!
Next time your tempted to play a hand that is almost good enough, or the next time you are trying to find an excuse for call when folding is a better move, remember just how small the difference between a bad player and a good player can be. (at the low limits)

Good observation. I'm more of a tournament player, but recently trying to improve my ring game. Tightening up even a small amount so i'm not seeing the flop with borderline hands has already paid dividends and it only took a small change in the hands I'm playing.

Soooo true!
If that scare card arrives at the lower limits and they bet i always fold and bluffing never works. They always have it no matter how bad odds ive given them.
But, they dont read hands that can beat theres either so i try to play with darwing hands in position as recomended becasue they really pay off.
They obvious advice is always best at the lower limits. Play a sensible game and keep it simple. Good poker plays better than thinking poker.
