I've made a discovery as of late. This week has been horrible for me as far as workload goes (That's the college life of an engineer). For about the sum total of 4 hrs play this week, im down 6 buyins. I've realized this is becuase when i tried to sneak an hr of play in, i was also reading or doing work and not focusing on the table much. I missed much of what was going on and played far too many hands far too passively. The moral of my story, focus on the game and forget about your classwork... it's for the best.

You mean the revolver, sir?
Precisely.

I couldn't agree more, I try to sneak in a quick SNG on lunch at work. Just too many distractions and I end up losing money.

Although I can understand this perspective, I tend and try not to focus on any given table, it just makes the games last longer to me. My approach is to play 3-boards and doing something else (like watch tv or listen to music). This level of uninvolvement allows me to not get too attached and more inclined to be calm..
I do believe concentrating on 1-table is the best way to play, but to maximize your winnings, you need to play as many boards as possible.
I guess you all were mentioning "sneaking" time here and there to play. I think the bigger issue is knowing you need to stop at a certain time and might make a person be a bit more aggressive or anxious when they are playing

Here here! This is one of the reasons I can't profitably play online. I get too distracted with other stuff going on around the house or even just by surfing the net. (there are other reasons as well) I much prefer playing live.

I'm with Krapp. Folding 75-80% of the time gets boring, even with 3 tables. I have to have something else to do, or my mind wanders. But it has to be mindless. It makes cold streaks more bearable because you can just go back to what your doing and wait till you get a hand. That said, doing schoolwork is probably not a good idea since it requires thought.

Between hands I'm going through hand histories and poker tracker trying to get reads. Particularly on loose players, as I'll likely be doing battle with them once I catch a hand...
