I usually play 2-3 tables at once, but last night I found myself deep in a tournament, another one just starting, plus playing my usual 10NL. All in all I was playing 5 tables for about 45 minutes. I can remember in a couple of instances where I thought I had a different hand than I actually did.
For example, in a $2 Freezeout I could've sworn I had Q9, and was even happier when the flop came JT8. Unfortuanately, it turned out I had 99 and I lost most of my stack.
Also, in one of my ring games I thought I had KQ and went the river with it on a flop of Kxxxx. Then when the cards were revealed I was shocked to figure out I had AQ.
This had never happened to me before until I started playing 5 tables, so the obvious solution would be to play less tables but does anyone have any tips for avoiding this?

Play less tables. Play the maximum number of tables you can reasonably track. Play that number until the game slows down and you are comfortable adding another table. I worked my way up to 4 tabling 1 table at a time.

When I first started multitabling this used to happen to me, 4 tables was just overwhelming and Id confuse hole cards [think i had the hand from table x on table y, etc] and now I get bored with 4 tables. Take away tables and add one as you become comfortable that is the only "advice" there is for overcoming this.

Man, I used to have accute headache-outbreaks whenever I added a table over 2. Now I'm perfectly cool with 3tabling shorthanded games.. sometimes I'll even read forums etc while playing. I think I could handle 4, but sadly I can't find a setup that allows to see my holecards that way. Anyway.. give it time?
