Do you guys multi-table better than you single?
I have noticed that, although I don't usually multi-table, I play better when I do. By having three games going at once I can be patient and play fewer hands. I also make quick decisions, usually going off general trends (re-raises are dangerous, call raises with better hands than you would make raises with - all that Sklansky stuff) rather than talking myself into the occasional bad decision. And I completely avoid tilt; faced with a rush of constant new hands, I don't have time to linger over the bad beats.
Today I was idly working on some things and single-tabling on a $25 NL table. I changed the table a couple times. Over the course of the day I would go up and down... up $10, down $20, up $20 again, etc. Eventually I capped this with a terrible bad beat to put me down $50 on the day, and decided I would either multi-table for a while to make myself feel better, or just quit. So I went to multi-table for about one hour. In that time I easily made back the entire $50, although I actually lost another $10 at one table. At the third table I opened up, I only bought in for $10 and eventually quadrupled it to $40 (one of those guys made my fish list, too).
So I have to say, I think multi-tabling is for me. What are your results? Better/worse? I had always assumed it would be worse because I would pay less attention to specific opponents, but the positives seem to outweigh that negative.

I usually see better results when I multi-table as well. I'd assume it's for the same reasons you mentioned, but I haven't really thought about it too much. I just seem to flip my attention between the tables and go a lot on instinct. One thing is that I don't get too caught up in trying to force a marginal hand. I'll just let it go and move on to another table, thereby limiting any losses that the hand may have incurred.

I find that I play better poker with just 1 table, but if I find the action to be too slow on one table, or I'm craving for some decent cards, I'll switch to two tables. Haven't tried more than that yet though.

I'd imagine an aggressive style would fit better for a single tabler, as you need to focus on your opponents than your cards, and you're playing alot of marginal hands, while slansky style you can't really get trapped by those players and get hit by the bad beats.

On a single table you can get an excellent feel for all your opponents, detect tilt much rapidly and are aware of the texture of the whole table at any particular instant. Because of this I play much better single tabling than multitabling and so do most of the people who customarily multitable.
In general most of the people who are multitabling are playing ABC poker which basically is good enough to make a reasonably consistent profit.
It is not uncommon to be heads up on two tables simultanously with the same player. Or to be on the receiving end of a possible blind steal by a player while you are doing a steal on that player at another table.

It depends on the limit. I feel I can just play cards at 3/6 with the help of gametime.
But with higher limits I can only do three, too much reading i'm trying to do

I think he's talking about NL, and I kinda feel like 2 tables is the max for NL. I play 3 limit tables at once 'cause it's very mechanical and -- yes -- you have to fold an awful lot to profit, which gets dull if you're sitting there watching people play feces.
In NL I think you can profit as much by opening up 2 tables and looking more carefully at each -- you can steal in NL (!) and this is an important part of the strategy.

Not only do I play 4 tables NL, but I manage to surf the net while doing so. In fact I am playing 4 tables right now as I am posting this.

I play 4 nl tables surf the web on my other monitor talk on IRC and read FTR at the same time all with my hands tied behind my back.

I can quite happily do four tables in NL. Although if four tables hit at the same time it gets a little hectic. I had AA, AA, AKs and TJs all at the same time thre days back. Amost dropped the TJ which would have been a shame cos since it ended up stacking someone with a J high straight versus their T high.
Just in case you get the wrong idea I've also watched two sets go down the gurgler at the same time, taking large amounts of cash with them.

I can't play less than 4 6-max tables at a time or else i get impatient. If I'm playing ring games I can have 6 or more going at once and not be overwhelmed.

I single table better, but I usually play at least two. Latley it has been one SnG and one ring game. That way I can leave the ring when the SnG gets down to a few people.
