Could I hear some actual true stories of people who grinded up from .05/.10 cents to much higher stakes??

I just had a huge 200$ downswing, playing .10/.25 cent, and have to move back down to .05/.10...

Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.

Nah iopq you're only at 100nl which is 10x what you started at. You must REALLY suck!

I'm sure there have been more than a couple people dude. Be thankful you can start out as high as you are. I started out with $10 at 2nl and have ground my roll up to ~$100 and have just started playing 5nl.

But then again I'm a sick human being with no sense of wasted time . I'm hoping to be up to 10nl-25nl by May.

I've taken 40 bucks to 170. 2nl to 5nl. I'm a damn success story in the making.

I fully intend to have a book and a movie deal by the time I'm 40. Played by the virile Hugh Jackman.
The older I get, the more I start wondering; Just what in the hell is going on here?

xxstacksxx started of at 10nl with about $300 back in June of last year

Quote:
I started 10nl June 4th with a $340 roll. July 3rd I made the jump to 25nl with a $700 roll, after two failed attempts to move up. I spent a little less than a month at 25nl before making the jump to 50nl with a $1500 roll. From August till September that is where I was grindin'. At the tail end of August, I hit the $3k BR benchmark I had set, so I took my stab at 100nl on Stars. And that's where I can be found as of now. A very low stakes donk just looking to improve and make some money in the process.
Since then he's grinded up to 17k, I'm sure there are many others who have done it that I haven't heard of, just happened to remember stacks bio It can be done man. If it couldn't I doubt there'd be half as many people in the forum puttng their time and energy into poker.

WE all start low and work our way up. Most of us anyway. Its how we learn. Keep plugging.

Stacks has what it takes to reach the balla stakes IMO. (This opinion is based on the quality of his posts, but TBH I have never seen him play, he could just be a bot for all we know)

Started with 1cent-2 cent limit. Got to 100 NL playing a couple of hours a day on 1 table for a year.

Never had a downswing in any of my operations, 5 altogether, of more than 5 buy ins.

Never went more than 10 days without my bankroll reaching a new summit in any operation on any site.

Never realized how arrogant I was.

Never knew how socially retarded I was before getting a diagnose.

Starting to improve my behavior.

Stopped playing poker (almost) in order to help others.

Trying to make the world a better place.

A smart man learns only from his own mistakes.
A wise man learns from his own mistakes, and those of the smart man and the fool.

This is me a year ago... My roll never drops below 4g and I send myself a $2000 check every month.
Check out my self-deprecation here!

Hardly a success story yet, but I've made some progress.

Started with $50 playing 2NL on Stars about a year ago. Now about 80K hands later I'm playing 50NL with a BR of around $1,350.

That includes three downswings of 10 buy-ins or more - one at 5NL, another at 20NL and the third at 50NL earlier this month (in fact not sure I'm out of that one yet ...)

In the last few days of 2008 i spunked away $1100 of my $1800 roll playing $50NL HU and 2-4HUL08 (loooooooooooooool). In Jan and Feb i've rebuilt with 25NL and 50NL and my roll currently sits at $2300, so i wouldn't let a little downswong discourage u to much.

I guess the moral here is don't accept any HU4ROLLZ challenges in a game u don't really know how to play
There's only one system. Bet. Lose. Borrow. Steal. Lose. Take the drugs. Lose. Prison. Death.
