I've just realized the power of the BB reraise. I just had a couple hands where people were raising my big blind (early on), i had A9 suited and A8off respectivley, and came over the top for about three times their bet. They folded, and a made a bit. The big part thought, the REAL payoff was the respect I gained. I noticed a significant drop in the attempts at my big blind. This allowed me to see alot of flops that wouldve otherwise been unseen since i wouldve folded to a PF raise. This allowed me to flop a straight with a 4-6 and i made about 1200 off it, and this is a 9 handed SNG so thats pretty significant. Thoughts? Opinions? When is a good time to do this and when is it not?

You need to do this against chronic blind stealers for exactly the reason you state. Not sure I'd do it with Ax, suited or otherwise but, meh, any two works if you're confident he's trying to steal.

pick your time to defend your blinds, though. At 5-10, it's not worth it so much. As they get larger, you've got to defend them.

I understand that. It wasnt really the chips I made, I really liked the fact that the aware players picked up on that and they adjusted their play accordingly.

it's absolutely an important skill. I make it a habit to reraise occasionally from the blinds against any raise from the cut off or button.
what I've found though, is that you can't do it habitually, because it's a very easy thing to defend against. I know if I have a blind defender, I like to slow down and wait for a real hand, wait for them to defend, and then drop the hammer.
it doesn't happen all the time, because the cards don't always present themselves, but man, when they do, it's a beautiful thing.

Yeah I was getting tired of always folding my weak hands to a raise. These guys cant have a strong hand every time, and if theyre raising alot the odds are even lower. Even if they have a good hand like AJ suited a nice reraise will deter them from calling if they know whats good.
