Post subject: Did i play this hand to aggressivly?

Ok no hand histories for this room
blinds 5c/10c
me 10c/10d
I raised 4xbb and get 2 callers
flop
987 giving me an over pair and an oesd
pot around 1.20
first 2 act bets .30 makeing the pot 1.50
Now is my turn and i have 2.50 left I decide to push it all in My thinking being I that the pot already has several BBs in it so why not try to pick it up now and even if someone calls i have several outs. And would in fact be even or favored over most hands except 56/j10/jj/ and a few more but i think these are my biggest fears. My goals were to 1 win the pot right there 2 get called my a trailing hand 3 get called by a hand that was a head but i had atleast 8 outs against. Also i am not really worried about AA KK QQ as i would expect my opponents to reraise with such hands. Now with out giving away to much i will say the next to act calls and the original bettor folds For the time being that is all the info i will give.

Somthin's wrong here.... looks like you typo'd the flop cuz you don't have an overpair and you have a gutshot, not open ended.......

I'm sorry i completly got 2 diffrent hands mixed up. On one hand i had 10/10 and the flop was 987 and the other i had 10/10 and the flop was j87. When i first posted i wanted to post about 1 hand then decided to post about the other and got my wires crossed. I will edit the first post .

With only $2.50 left, any raise but allin would pot-commit you anyway, so yea that seems like the right move here, though you could easily be behind (I'm thinking to two pair here most likely) in most cases you are not and everyone else is just folding.

Before I saw that you wrote this my thinking was "Are your outs live?" Always consider it. Also, fold equity is bad at these limits. I don't blame you for pushing here. You have the best hand a lot with 6-8 outs, and you have implied odds on a stack from top pair almost every time. Sometimes you run into hands. That was a terrible flop for you considering your opponents hand. Almost the worst possible.
How often is an opponents stack going in with the worst hand here at this limit? I'd say a lot. That makes your push correct.

I think I would have probably pushed here. TT is a useful hand and frequently makes up into a straight and I prefer it to JJ.
When you have a straight draw with a medium pair, however, you need to think about the possibility of an overpair or, more likely, two pairs. The higher the cards which make up the straight draw the more likely that two pair is. With a flop of 987 it is easy to run into two pair as many players will play 98 or 87 preflop (if the flop was KQJ two pair is even more likely) and with such a holding they may call an all-in as, although they know a straight could be possible for their opponent, they do have outs which they might hit. Just like you knew a straight might be possible but you had outs.
So it is a judgment call - go with your instincts. Sometimes you'll be right, other times you won't.
