Post subject: Common Cash Game Scenario for me

Tonight I played about 3 hours at Bugsys in the low limit .10/.25 room. As is the norm, I played pretty tight and won my share of hands, took a bad beat early and then turned the 2.50 I had left into $17 about 2/3 of the way in. Lost a pot to a new player, forgot the details exactly but he made a bad call preflop after I made a good raise and double up through me, left me with $11. He then proceeds to get AA twice in about 10 hands and hammer other players and has more money than me. I then pick up QQ, make a 12x the blind raise after several limpers come in. They all fold and he calls. Flop comes like 2 8 K, he checks to me, I push all in! He calls and turns over the K 6 offsuit. Now, clearly, my problem was betting all in after the flop and being a little overaggressive with him since he bad beat me earlier. My question is, does this happen at higher stakes tables? Is that how I can avoid the problem I have of the worst player at the table always taking all my money and then promptly giving it to another player? Any ideas? Does this happen to everyone? It seems to happen to me all too often!

Maybe he wasnt the worst player at the table....
Dont push when the K falls. Make a bet and see what happens. If he calls you down and check the turn check behind.
Also why are you buying into 25nl with 2 bucks

Three points:
1. I don't like the 12 x bb raise - I think this is too much and gives away the fact that you have a decent hand. Remember that in cash games the goal is to win money as opposed to pots. I would suggest raising to 4 x bb or 6 x bb at most to try and disguise the strength of your hand. If you standardise your raises like this you will get action when you hold a monster.
2. QQ is a classic trap hand - in low limit poker you will get called by players holding A rag and K rag suited or not, as in this case. If an A or K floopps you must be prepared to dump your QQ. You can try one bet to pick up the pot, but no more. This is another reason for not going too far over the top with QQ preflop.
3. Never go after a particular opponent who benefited from a bad beat agaibst you - keep emotion out of it. Win the money from others - after all, does it REALLY MATTER from whom you win the cash?
