A little less than a year ago I entered this realm of the FTR world thinking that I was already a quite accomplished online player. I had a bankroll of over $1k and was ready to take on the world. I remember telling Ilikeaces he was just "lucky" and that he had no real "poker skills." I remember advocating a buy in once for rebuys and treat them like Freeze-Out approach for MTTs. And I remember posting "great hands" of mine which included my open-limping in Limit. And each time I made one of these posts I was roundly and sometimes harshly shot down.
I want to thank each and every poster who shot me down.
When I came to this site I was a better than average player... any player who is beating the rake is better than average. But this site has helped make me a much better than average player. I still find myself saying every couple of months that I am finally starting to "really see the light." I believe that this site will continue to let me say that.
I still have leaks in my game which I am trying to overcome. In my case, playing outside of roll and tilting, and refusing to step into the technology age are my biggest errors. But the patches are falling off less and less now. In fact, for the first time ever, I am probably actually now playing within my bankroll.
I am now at a point where I believe I can offer meaningful advice to help others get to where I am at and I am willing to help if asked. I also know that I am no poker god and will continue to seek to improve my own game by posting here with my thoughts on others' hands as well as looking for advice and criticism on my own hands.
I hope this next year will be as good as this first one (both in terms of my bankroll and in terms of my skill level).
Thank you FTR.

As a relative newcomer just wanted to say thanks Chard ... always read your tips, have found them informative and useful, and have tried to incorporate a lot of the ideas into my play.
Keep up the good work - its much appreciated!

As long as I am on my good computer I am (almost) always willing to watch people play and give advice.
And even on my crap computer I have no problems letting people watch me play - if u IM me I'll even tell you my cards so u can see how I play.
EDIT - in case people actually would want to see me play.
I generally play the nightly $30 rebuy on Paradise as well as some 10/20 limit at the 5 max people tables there.
I am probably going to expand my game to Stars and the Sunday $100 Bodog tourney as well.
My hotmail account is surprise surprise chardrian@hotmail.com
I only have MSN messenger right now - but if you add me to your MSN list I add everyone and then will only block if you start asking for stakes or other nonsense.

Is this permitted? I've heard that they do screen scrapes for this. If they saw you giving out your hole cards, wouldn't you be suspect for collusion?

Scrapes? How does this work.
I've often been chatting to friends playing the same table and we talk about our cards all the time ... never while live of course. But after the hand we might say "had AK there" and talk about why we played it that way, a good learning tool. No collusion whatsoever, but is even this learning method going too far?

This is from the Pokerstars Website. This is in the terms of service (TOS )
4.3 COLLUSION. Collusion between players by sharing hole cards or by other methods is strictly forbidden. PokerStars reserves, in addition to other measures, the right to restrict seating and/or to prohibit Users from playing at a particular poker table or in a tournament, including restricting two or more Users from playing together at the same table or in the same tournament.
So for Char's "lessons" it would be fine.. because the other person is not at the table playing.. however Buzz's example coule be taken the wrong was.. Also in the TOS ( I am sure all sites have this information PS was just easier )
" You agree that PokerStars may take steps to detect and prevent the use of prohibited EPA Programs. These steps may include, but are not limited to, examination of software programs running concurrently with the PokerStars Software on the User's computer. "
Know that is to detect "bots" and other programs, But in the case of Possible collusion they very well could scan and see a messanger program running in the backround.. Personally I do not like them having to do this, but I understand to make it fair they have to.
I ( at any given time ) may have 2 messanger programs running when I hit 3 I start up Trillian Pro and use it instead. I would hate to not have these running, for my social life would suffer if I could not get onto them and "chat" after a folded hand.
Edit: I corrected some spelling errors... I have only been awake for an hour.. Played NL 25 home Game last night, I ended up +53.75 But I am still sleepy.
