1) the pro poker thing is going well for you so far - do you imagine stopping anytime though? even if it's still going well?
2) I do ok playing cash... should I play some tourneys? the life changing cash vs the income that pays like a job - thoughts?
3) you run out of death row?

What major tournies do you play regularly?
Are you playing in any WCOOP events?
Does not cashing in dozens of tournies in a row make yer headasplode?

1) as long as I can keep making enough to sustain our lifestyle, I don't see me stopping. The only major downfall so far has been the social isolation - but a big part of that is also that I am just too lazy to get off my ass and out of the house. I love the flexibility poker gives me and I am fortunate that unlike many others I still don't consider the game to be a grind and enjoy trying to stay on top of the curve.
2) the thrill of taking down a tourney is still powerful for me - being able to say that I took every last chip from xxxx number of people is still pretty amazing to me - the big chunk of change is never too bad either. From what I've beeen told and have read, playing cash is the best way to make a buttload of money on a consistent basis - and I still haven't given cash any considerable amount of time or effort ever since I seem to have gotten this br management thing under control. So I might delve into more cash play in the future.
3) I don't understand the question. If you mean my avatars - shemales convicts are a constant fixture.
4) not really - I did hit and run somebody playing 1/2 HU last week but that's about it. Tbh, I don't even know what I'm rolled for as far as cash - I have a scary feeling that I am rolled for games that I only dreamed of playing before.

1) yes, but so far I continue to make $$ at tourneys and the variance hasn't killed me. It is getting harder and harder to carve out a decent ROI at tourneys so I would imagine that cash will become a bigger part of my game in the future.
2) I played in 4 of the WSOP events this summer - my biggest was the $5k NL event which I bubbled in a gross way. I made the money in one of their 1.5k events and ended up getting in the biggest pot up to that point (there were like 125 left) on a move that backfired to the eventual winner. I am hoping to get backed to play more live tourneys in the future.

1) Depends what you consider "major" I guess. Daily, my schedule consists of a variety of tournies depending on when I start - they include the the $162/163s on Stars and Tilt, the $55 and $109 FOs on both sites as well as the sniper on UB, rebuys up to $30, and a whole bunch of smaller stuff. If I play on Sundays, I have lately been playing most of the "standard" majors - the $215 BIs. If my roll drops below $40k, I will still continue to take shots at some of those, but won't play them all.
2) yes - I have lots of family coming to visit lately, which is why I haven't played many. I did take a shot at the $530 one last Sunday and got relatively deep. The structure of those tourneys helps my game a lot since I like to play postflop.
3) yes - I am generally a very laidback person. Downswings frustrate the bejesus out of me though.

How many tourneys do you play at once?
What skills do you think you have that make you an above average tourney player?

1) I am one of the, if not the, lowest volume fulltime mtt pros. 6 tables at once is max for me. I still average less than 200 tourneys per month.
2) I actually think I still have major holes in my preflop game which is what most players get down pretty quickly. I compensate for that by having pretty good reads on bet-sizing/timing tells and having the balls to use my stack leverage where many players are unwilling to do so because they would rather not "risk their tourney life" or look silly spewing.

1) A little over a year now.
2) Around 150k.
3) Around 50k.
4) I was a practicing lawyer when we lived in Wisconsin - I was an Assistant Attorney General dealing with a lot of inmate lawsuits, hence my proclivity towards convict avatars. I passed the CA bar but no, I am no longer practicing law. As far as $$, I could probably make the same or more practicing, but I enjoy not working more than 40 hrs a week.

Do you think you're still improving as a player? What do you think someone who is already pretty good at tournaments should work on if he wants to get even better? Also, what are some changes you've noticed in how tournaments play, from a year ago to today?
Have you spent your poker winnings on anything cool, other than your castle of course? How do you like Sacramento? Anything cool to do there that I should check out when I'm on my way back home from Reno or Lake Tahoe?
Are you planning on playing any live tournaments before next year's WSOP?

1) Yes.
2) Depends what aspect of tourneys s/he is good at. I need to improve on my preflop game as well as remaining patient deep in tourneys. Others may have that down pat, but might need to work on playing players rather than just playing cards or positions.
3) Push/fold stacks have increased from 10BBs to 15BBs (up to 20BBs in some BvB situations). Restealing has increased. Aggressiveness has increased. Already I have noticed more and more players are trying to combat that by doing things like open-limping which I was taught was the number 1 way to spot a donk.
4) We bought a new car - an Audi, which I am liking moer than I thought I would.
5) I like Sac, although I have to admit I don't get out that much.
6) As far as outdoor stuff, the river is the best bet, but that's more bike friendly than anything else. There are some nice hikes between Sac and Tahoe/Reno though.
7) I would like to play some live tourneys, it's just a matter of figuring out when/where and if necessary, getting the financial backing to play. I know there are casinos in San Jose, Reno, Tahoe - so if you're ever thinking of playing there, let me know.

If yes, where does this complete disdain come from?
In no, how can you be so delusional?

I take them, but I think it's mostly a style thing. I like having a big stack early because it lets me play more pots.

I don't have enough info to answer. It could be: small sample size, you don't know how to play a small stack well, you don't adjust to increasing blinds/antes well, you're decent at cash because you're a nit and nits tend to cash a lot in tourneys but rarely get huge scores.

1. if you had to pick two things/ideas/strategies that have helped your game the most, BR management aside, what would they be?
2. roughly how long did it take you to start consistently turning a profit after you first discovered poker?
3. roughly how long after you first discovered poker were you turning enough profit to justify playing it full time as a pro?
4. how did you first discover poker?

1) Putting BR management aside makes this tough to answer since the biggest help to my game has been not donking my roll off. Other than that, learning how to bluff well has probably helped me the most. I have always had the balls to bluff, but learning when, how, and who to bluff against has helped me pick up chips when I need then and not spew chips when there is no need to.
2) I think you're going to be upset by this answer because it deals totally with BR management. I was able to make a profit very early in my poker career. My problem was sustaining a profit. If I had a winning session, I would take my profit and take a shot at the bigger games so that I could "have a real roll to play with." If I had a losing session, I would chase my losses (often at bigger games), so that I could get my roll back to where it was and then I'd promise myself that when I got there "I would grind a roll out with good BR management." I have not had to put money online for years - but I have taken 5 figure rolls down to less than $1k at least 3 times. Right before my big win last year was the last time I donked off a large percentage of my roll. I had been playing for 3-4 years at that point.
3) as soon as I learned bankroll management. It took me 3-4 years to do so.
4) lawschool buddies.
