hi

I'minterested in finding out the probabilities of floppingn nuts. I guess thebest way to calcuate that is to calcuate each of the probabilities of flopping royal flush, quads, boat, etc....

Doesanybody know the probabilities of flopping each of these? Can you show the calculations too? thanks

The only hand that can be considered the absolute nuts in all situations is a Royal Flush. Since, no matter the hole cards, it requires 3 specific cards, the computation is as follows:

3/50 * 2/49 * 1/48 = 0.000051 = 0.0051%

i've had 3 in my life. on one of them i held K10s and i hit the royal on the turn.

it was a 6 way all-in as there was a straight on the board by the river and 3 people thought that everyone was playing the board even though it was 3 suited.

that was a $400 pot in $100 NLHE. pretty sweet.

Actually flopping the pure nuts that can not be outdrawen no matter what someone else has can only be done if...

You flop a straight flush
and...
One of your cards is 10 or higher,
or
One of your hole cards is on the highest end of your straight flush

*Only exception is if you flop a 5-high straight flush and you dont hold the ace

However if you are talking about flopping the temporary nuts you would need to find all the different ways your specific hand could flop the nuts.

Reread what I said. I was referring to flopping a Royal Flush, thus assuming that both of your hole cards were 10 or higher and of the same suit.

I dont want to start an argument but if you have

and the flop comes

that is the absolute nuts no matter what happens and it is not a royal flush. I am not saying you calculation is incorrect, just what you are calculating.

Ah, yes, I agree. Sorry, I misunderstood what you were disagreeing with.

I believe the same calculation applies, so the probability above holds, and can be extended to include any two suited connectors above 54.

Yes, the same probability would apply except for suited connectors with cards 10 or above. for example...

10 J would have 4 ways to make the absolute nuts...

7 8 9 and 8 9 Q

9 Q K and Q K A

This being said, it would be your calculation multiplied by 4, therfore it would be 0.0204% or about 1 in every 5,000 hands that you call with 10-Js you will flop absolute nuts.
