First, i want to thank you so much to the FTR community! These forums have given me great advise over these past 2 months.
But right now I cant seem to move up on the stakes. Ive been playing to 10 nl at bodog, and have been doing pretty well, im up 1300 over past 2 months.
The problem is at the 25nl, people are more tighter and better in general
(go figure). Are there any 'methods' for moving up the higher stakes? Or am i forever off playing the lowest stakes?
Also, what would be the recommended buy in? max?
thanks

Give ur self sometime to understand the game in the higher limit. Figure what changes u must do to ur game in order to beat it., and make sure u are not playing scared or worry about the money.

If your problem is that the players are tighter when you move up then try moving to partys 25NL. They have better bonuses and looser players by all accounts. Ive never played there myself (after losing my first $100 when i was trying to learn the game) but its got a nice easy reputation

If you dominated that much over the last two months at 10NL, you should do very well at 25NL. You might have a lower winning percentage but the higher pots will make up for that and then some. How long have you tried it? Many people get discouraged when they move up and lose or break even. I'm sure the players are better, but they probably aren't that much better. If they are tighter, then you have to adjust. You may have just been on tight tables or just didn't get the cards in the right situations. Give it some more time to get a real sense of how you are doing.
I just moved up from 25NL to 50NL and the players seem tighter and Poker Trakcer does show they are. But, I still got some donk with KT to call my preflop raise and then my push on the flop when he paired his king. I had rockets. There are less fish, but the tighter players are more predictable. They will almost always reraise me when they have a real hand. Thanks! They just saved me money by letting me off the hook on the flop rather than the river after I sunk in more money.
I heard bodog is as loose or looser than party at 25NL. If you do join party, you can play at the beginner tables for a limited amount of time. I suggest you do so as it's almost all fish.

I have a suggestion for you -- it's what worked for me at the same stage.
Move to Party & skins.
Here's why -- I think the poorest players at any site congregate at the lowest levels. Party's lowest level is 25NL. You'll still find better players here, but the increase in fish makes all the difference.
At my starter site, I got spanked moving from 10nl to 25nl. The move to Party made it all ok.
What do you think?

I think the 'lowest buy in = fish' is sort of right. If you want looser 25NL players try some 6 max, but be warned it can be swingier!
When I start a new level I just play super tight until I get a feel for the betting, just set-hunting, top hands ABC poker etc.
My basic strategy at 25NL is to bet away with big hands and when they come back at you 80% of the time you're beaten. Even if they fold fold fold eventually you will annoy someone into calling. Try 2 tables if you are getting bored and playing too many hands.

$25 NL on every site I've ever played it beatable. You probably already have the skills to beat $25 NL if you're beating $10 NL. In my opinion it's more a matter of being pyschologically prepared to move up a limit and making the proper play adjustments. The play may be a little tighter and the players slightly better, but they're still bad enough that you should be able to crush them once you get a feel for it.
If you've been playing $10NL for that long and made that much money then you really need to move up. It's time to step-up your game and step-up your earnings. It may take you a little time to get use to the larger amount of money at stake and the tighter play, but soon you'll realize that you belong there.
I encourage you to keep seeking advice and post hand histories as you make the transition.

wc3x,
I think I've seen you on Bodog. I play mostly 10NL there and a little 25NL. I've been in a downswing lately so I'm playing all 10NL for now. Maybe I'll see you at a table sometime.
