I recently moved up to 50NL from 25 and realized to my dismay that after raising PF with AK, AQ, or KQ and not hitting, my C-bets are being called more often than before. I really have a hard time deciding what to do on the turn when this happens. So a few questions: how often do you C-bet when you don't hit? In what situations is this most profitable? What do you do on the turn?

its a question of opponents and flop texture, my bet/raise % after a pf raise is right now at ~60%. in general u can cbet most flops ip and should check those flops, who fit well opp´s pf range especially oop. if u get a read on guys, that call your flop bets light start 2 barelling more.

How often I cbet depends mostly on who Im against and what the flop looks like. Flops with Aces, Kings or Queens are generally good to cbet. Flops that are low, 2-suited, 2 medium cards arent as good.

I find there are two types of players calling you.

TAGgy type players will float you more often when it looks obvious youve missed. e.g. 922 flop.

Loose-passive fishy type players dont care if youve hit or not so they are more likely to call on flops theyve hit. e.g. AQ8, or 672 with 2 suited cards or something like that.

You dont have to cbet every flop. Be more likely to bet, the less likely they are to call.
Occasionally fire two barrels against floaters (not against calling stations), especially if a high card comes on the turn (e.g. flop is 922, turn is K).
Occasionally bet flop, check/raise turn with big hands.

Just do whatever you think would make things more difficult for you if you were in their position.
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

2 barrel more, if you are wanting the aggro approach. treat a 2 barrel like a lower stakes cbet...make it what you expect to do to win the pot.

or, bet less. especially oop. drop your % down to around 40%, and when called, then 2 barrel...that should send a message.

if i get a villain that cbets as often as 60%, i will raise his ass for no particular reason every so often to see if he backs off. usually works. take that into consideration, as i am TAGgy.

if i raise your cbet, RR me, and i drop almost everything. thats another approach.
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

alrite, rookie question but i assume 2 barrel means c-bet the turn too? the thing is that ive tried this a few times and I don't want to make it my standard play because it only works around 50% of the time, and when it doesn't, I'm out 10 bucks as opposed to just the original 2 dollar PF raise

If you chose your spots to 2-barrel wise and your bets work 50% the time a pot sized second barrel will break even in the long run, bet 4/5 the pot (assuming still 50% succes) you´ll show a long term profit. The more you decrease your betsize without giving up chances of succes, the more money you´ll make.

bet pot X, win X half the time, lose X the other half for 0ev

bet 4/5 pot X, win X half the time, lose 4/5 the other half for 1/5 X long term profit.

I am finding a 90% of pot bet works a LOT more than a 65% of pot bet. My normal bet is the latter, sigh.
