Ok this may seem A realy newbie question but here I go
Table stakes $1/$2
Are 20 BB's enough and are 10 to 15 buy ins sufficient.
I play on playing tommorow and $ 40 buyins with $400 in my br enough for $1/$2 no limit?????
It's easy to shoot fish in a barrell............. Just throw in a stick of dynamite!!

no. For 1/2 NL a buy in is $200, so in order to have 20 buyins you need a role of $4k

Also, if you are asking these kinds of questions i reckon you'd get crushed at 200nl.

If your a newbie cut your teeth at 5nl (0.02/0.05) or 10nl (0.05/0.10) and build a role and move up the levels

Variance is insane if you shortstack. I recently tried ratholing 1/2nl with my ~2K roll and it didn't take me long to realise that the games were too swingy for that.

Also, shortstacking isn't that easy unless you can put opps on ranges and calculate shoves due to the amount of FE you have.
YOU WILL GET CRUSHED IF YOU HAVEN'T TRIED SHORTSTACKING BEFORE.

So you may very well lose your whole br tomorrow if you do this. I would say that is a bad idea.

 yes. this is a live casino right?

expect to lose your $400 a few times first though. so I suppose the answer is no.

but since it's a live casino, yes. I started with a $500 roll for the B&M and lost it a few times, no big deal.

but seriously, if you plan on getting serious about live casino's, you should have about $4k.

the first part is true. the second part depends on whether poster is playing live or online. i am assuming live.

if so, then, yes, you should hold you own with them as long as you play relatively smart. (smart being a relative term)

but, if your bankroll is only $400, and you would like to keep it together for online play, then i would wait on the live stuff. AA gets cracked, too, you know?

grind it up to 1-2k, then take a couple shots live.

now, if you are a hoobyist and can reload on a whim...then, by all means, gamboool it up live, and see how it goes. just dont play stoopid.

Oh, live.

Nvm my post I haven't played live so I don't know. Seems pretty underolled though, but I doubt you will be "crushed"! Could easaily lose $400 in a bad run though imo.

exactly. you are "underrolled" for live play. but, if you have enough of a roll online that you dont have to move back down when you lose your $200 live...then, give it a shot.

i wouldnt shortstack live w/o a SUBSTANTIAL "live" roll because the variance is attrocious.

in fact, it can be said, imo, that you need more of a roll for live play anyway. remember the variance at the $5NL tables? remember the suckouts? all the people in raised pots? the absence of 3betting? when someone does 3bet, nothing happens? all the chasing of draws? the all-ins on the flop with overcards?

same shit happens live, but with a lot more money. just be forwarned. you should KILL these games long-term. the problem is you dont have the roll, or time, to be in it long-term, unless you plan to go to the casinos regularly. and then, it comes right back to the bankroll problem of being short for the live game.
