I was playing the 180 person tourney $50 buy-in on Stars recently. There were 22 people left and I was sitting in about 8th place with a slightly above average stack.
-blinds 100/200
-I'm on the button
-hand gets folded around to me, I raise to 700
-sb folds, bb pushes all in 4000
I have about 5500 left, so if I call and lose I probably won't make the money [18 people]. The bb has been very quiet ever since early in the game - he built up his stack and has sat quietly while others have gone out. The only hands he has played and showed have been of the premium variety - I could only see him re-raising here with AA, KK, and AKs. My gut told me AKs, but even then I didn't want to make the call as I will lose about 46% of the time. If this were any other time of the game I call, but when only four people more people need to be eliminated to make it to the money I just couldn't bring myself to make the call. I used all of my allotted time and finally decided to fold and he showed AKs. He was still playing when I was eliminated in 7th place. Did I make the right move?

you'd be better off posting in the MTT forum.
Given that range, the fold is OK, you're a 3/1 dog against AA/KK/AKs and the pot isn't laying you enough. Against almost all players this is an autocall and you're happy to do it.
Note if you add either JJ or AQ to his range it's also a clear call. IMO, no one is so tight they won't re raise you with JJ here given you raised on the button.
Folding because you're close to the money is terrible, unless you think HE's worried about the bubble. Sounds to me like you are playing above your roll.

I think hes probably raising more than just AA KK AK here. I call this pretty much every time.

um, what is he looking down at AKo and is like "well, i gotsta fold u since u aren't sooted..."
OP:
First of all, if he only pushes AK, QQ+, then u have to call since u are pretty much priced in (QQ is 40ish % vs that range believe it or not).
Secondly, do u honestly think that this guy sees A BUTTON OPENER and mucks TT/JJ?

I witnessed this same player limp/call with all of 1010, JJ, and AKo in the first 90 mins of play. He raised three times and the two times he showed he had AKs and KK. I will agree with the poster who said I may be playing above my roll - I wouldn't have been so concerned with this hand at a $20 table, that's for sure! Was this still a donk move?
