After reading FTR for sometime now and understanding the impotance of poker tracker, at what point should i invest in PT. Currently my BR is $120 + $25pending at paradise poker. I need to get Poker Tracker but the money for it will have to come from my br. This is a catch22 for me. Take money out of br to buy pt, br goes down and i have pt for stats. Leave money in br to play, but no pt for stats and fixing leaks. How much do i need in my br before i buy pt?
Thank you

If you are playing at paradise get pokertracker when the bonus clears. That will leave you with about $100 that you can play 2NL with. Or you can wait until you hit $250 to get pokertracker. Or my personal favorite... buy it with non-bankroll funds.

You could always move your BR to another site to get PT free.
http://www.pokerlizard.com/FreePokerTracker.htm
Not done it myself (my BR is waaaaaay too small ) but it seems an option.

Ive changed my mind. Go with anosmics suggestion if they offer low enough stakes games.

Anosmic, or anyone else who knows.
I have a few questions about the pokertracker promotion.
1. What site did you sign up with?
2. How much did you deposit?
3. How much was the cash bonus?
4. Can this promotion be used with another? (Instant bank roll is giving away free money for signing up with Titan Poker)

I would suggest waiting until you have enough hands played before buying PT. For me, that number was 5,000 and the stats became much more relevant when I had 10,000 hands. So maybe you can wait on PT.

Just as an aside. Poker Tracker is also a hassle at Dise since you have to get your hand histories mailed to you for it to work there.
(p.s. this is coming from someone who STILL doesn't have PT)

pokersourceonline has a bunch of sites you can join to earn PT as a bonus. Check them out I heard titan poker was kinda easy to clear. never checked it out myself tho.

Whats the catch for the pokerlizards. Just deposit play 10 hands and email pokerlizards then withdraw and have pokertracker?
Could I do that?

Here's my plan for you....
Finish at Paradise -- PT sucks there.
Go to CasinoDOTnet poker for their $100 bonus - PT doesn't work there, either. Their bonus clears at any level ring game after 500 contributed raked hands, any sized deposit. If you are lucky, while your money is out of Paradise, Paradise will offer another reload.
Use that $100 CasinoDOTnet bonus to BUY Pokertracker. Then go to EasyT's 25NL Bonus Guide sticky. There's plenty listed there at 10NL too.
If you are playing lowest stakes, you don't want to wander into a room that has tables or bonuses over your comfort level.
KingLizard was right on -- while you are playing at rooms where PT can't be used for 'reads' and can't be used for self analysis, postpone the purchase until later.
ProZack, look up PokerLizards, ECasinoDeals, and PokerSourceOnline -- they aren't tricky with the offers, and they offer some good deals. I can pretty much guarantee it won't be 11RH-then-collect-your-gift, but it won't be tricky. There may be a requirement for play level that you are not comfortable with, though. And be careful not to waste a good bonus for a crappy chipset, and don't waste a $100 bonus on a $60 pc of software -- amIright!?

You are gonna spend like $80 on PT and an overlay program. You don't need it now. Wait until you start playing 25nl. Then when you hit $580, cashout $80 and buy them both.

Cheaper than that if you just use Gametime+ or whatever its called. I dont have any of them so I dont know the difference in Gametime+ or PAHud except that GT+ is free to use with PokerTracker. Maybe someone could post the pro's and con's of these two overlay programs.

I used PokerAce briefly, when it was free. It was superior to GT+ in many ways.
But PA doesn't work with B2B's and others, and I'm already used to GT+ format, and GT+ is FREE!

whatever your bankroll is consider this
If you are doing ok at your current limits (eg WINNING!)
then keep that up. Whatever you do keep the bankroll growing.
However once you find you have a reasonable bankroll (id say where the cost of PT wont force you to move limits eg $300 at 10nl) then go out and buy thsi tool. It will help you, but while you are winning continue to play such poker as PT will be of less use if you are winning at that moment.
I didnt buy PT until my br hit 1k, and then i bought everything i would ever need except pokeroffice (buying that soon)
Of course i had to stay at 25nl instead of moving upto 50nl but thats not a problem.

I've been using GT+ and PT for about 2 months now. It works great at Hollywood Poker. Especially useful at a new table where you find someone with a huge stack and wonder how they got it. Overlay the stats and bingo, they play 80%+ of their hands, PFR about 25% of the time, and have a large AF number. I just make sure I have a good hand when up against them. Otherwise, I just find another table.
GT+ is free too.

It a PT term for Aggression Factor ... loosely tells you how aggressive post flop the player is ... at least that's my understanding. Most players have numbers less than one where I play but occassionally I get someone who's a 10 or 15 ... I can expect they will come out firing if they are in the pot post flop. Then I can choose whether or not to challenge them.

So the higher the AF # the more aggressive they are post flop. Does this insinuate bluffing? Or just the possibility?

The aggression factor is the number of times the player bets or raises post-flop divided by the number of times he calls. Mine is far too high - 3.5 or so, and I'd rather it were around 2.

Hmmm I'm very interested in that last comment. PT rates me as a rock, my VP$IP is 20%, but my postflop AF is 3.03. I try to be reasonably aggressive without overdoing it. Was wondering what a good target figure for that stat is.

Thanks everyone for the input. My current BR is $147 + $15 pending at paradise. I did not like the 2NL tables at dise, they played like play money tables to me, so I jumped up to the 10NL tables. This jumped helped clear the bonus faster and is building my bankroll.
I decided to hold off getting poker tracker for now. When my bankroll is bigger i will purchase PT(about $700). Learning how to play poker and building the BR our my first goals. Purchasing and LEARNING poker tracker will come later. This will cut down the learning and I hate LEARNING.
Thank you again

You might try what prozach is doing. He is going to work his way up to $555 playing 10nl then he's going to buy PokerTracker and deposit the 500 thats left into PartyPoker (you need 500 to get 100 percent of Party's kickass bonuses.
