so i feel this is where i need to concentrate my efforts, as i have no idea what im doing.
i usually dont get pushed around (luckily) when im a blind but i feel that when i build my BR enough to step up my game (next game at the casino is 300min buy in NLHE - usually a stack of 1k sits down) im going to play against players who are aware of the money they can pick up with dead blinds.
i hardly ever complete SB unless i have a hand that has some potential. worst hand i will call with is probably 5-7o. i just see SB as a sucker position, it says 'hey complete your blind at half price!!!' with a fineprint reading '...for the worst position in the game. idiot.' ill throw away q-low/k-low suited or not. BB is more check/fold unless i have anything halfway decent. ill fold to almost any raise due to my garbage position.
essentially, unless i hit a miracle flop as a blind im giving away money. i know blind defense matters more in tourneys but i still see it as a potential leak when blinds become 10/20. should i not worry about it or play EP aggressor? i feel at higher limits people will respect EP raises much more, blinds or not. im not sure whats more profitable long term.

I think defending your blinds is pointless. There's no reason to risk a lot of your chips to "save" your blind. You will have 9 other chances to steal (or otherwise take) other people's blinds so don't sweat it if you have to fold on yours.

I agree. Blind defense should be reserved for tournaments.

No, I meant its pointless in both tournaments and cash games. When you're playing from the blind you are in early position and not the aggressor (if someone has raised you) and unless you have a stack advatage, a read on the opponent who raised, or a very good hand, the conditions are probably unfavorable for you to enter the pot. IF someone raises your blind then unless the situation warrants its, just let it go. You will be able to take the someone elses blinds and maybe more chips at some other point in the round.

In tourneys sometimes you have to make a stand to let the others know your blind isn't up for the taking every time.

I'm not big on defending my blind so much as stealing some blinds to make up for lost ground. So you can either defend your big blind out of position with a weak hand OR you can raise in CO with 64o and steal the blinds to make up for the two blinds you just forfeit.

usually in my games i know who i can and cannot blind steal from though. and i think it helps early on if you aggressively defend. i dunno, im thinking long term and im still undecided whether or not to just assume that these positions are losers.

I don't care about my blinds being defended as much as I care about taking others' blinds, which I can do more often per orbit than defending my own.
