I made this video for some guys who are learning microstakes, so I tend to explain things with newer players in mind. Otherwise its just me playing poker as I usually do. Feedback is always wanted of course. I don't really know if people on FTR could be arsed to watch it or not, but I thought I'd test the waters. videoreddit.avi - YouTube

I've been a winning reg at 20NL for ages but I've never quite made the jump to 50NL. Mostly because I seem to become a retard as soon as I move up. Cake is full of derps, and I play accordingly. They are really loose and spazzy, and the amount of times I've seen regs I've thought are decent show down 57os in a 3b pot has convinced me I just need to hold onto good cards tightly and print money. I'm South African, in case anyone is wondering about the accent.

I'll watch it sometime this weekend. I'm kind of in the same place on cake, beating 20nl but just under breakeven at 50. I guess it's ok because I'm running way under ev there, which really only means that when they get there with their crap I pay them off anyway, so I'm trying to watch out for that more. I'm actually starting to wonder if what we think is horrible play at the micros is actually genius shit as we move up.

Actually, since we're playing the same stakes on the same site I'll let you give me the go ahead before I watch.

Go for it. I most likely have notes on you already if we've played, and running into you on the tables can only make us both better. Hell, we should arrange some railing/reviews of eachothers play since we in the same place.

can you explain why you're losing when you call if the pot is $4, he bets $4, and he's bluffing 49% of the time?

I disagree with playing super straight forward, basically you're missing out on spots to improve your game by not thinking critically esp while only 4 tabling which may have a lot to do with you inability to move up in stakes is because you lack the ability to think every spot over critically.

yeah like I can tell already 5 mins in. you misuse fancy as correct. restealing is not fancy, its required in these games when people steal massive amounts. you lose so much from your blinds if you don't 3b as you would say 'light'.

your 4b sizing with AKo is not v good and we're about iunno first meaningful hand of the video. you describe him as really loose and aggro yet you choose to 4b to a size that says HEY IM NEVER FOLDING. don't like this one bit, you have these reads and yet you totally misapply them.

i mean you say it with the QQ, well if I 3b him he only continues with better. it's a great spot to 3b some crappy suited aces for balance because he only continues with better but you completely either A) dont consider it or B) have results orientedly disregarded it. either way bad.

wtf at the KJ logic. i'm betting for value against all these hands, but he called so i'm prolly beat? ???? just c/f the turn as played, and river is a c/c. flop is also an easy bet.

what does his stack size have anything to do if you should cbet Q92dd or not? bet like 1/3 pot and he'll fold or jam if he connected or not. its liek head scratchathon over here.

I have to go but from what i've seen you are absurdly nitty and justify it as just everyone so bad and aggro so i'll just nut camp but you probably miss an absurdly lot of value in thin spots as well as extremely profitable bluff spots because your think to yourself, well i dont have the super nuts here so i'll just shut it down. if i came across as mean it was not my intention i have a bad migraine atm.

not everyone at these stakes is a "complete retard"
no ones amazing or anything, but yeah.

was pretty effed up when i watched the vid last night, but there were a few spots where your logic seemed pretty flawed imo/if everyones a complete agrotard, why are you min opening/folding every time a blind 3b's you?

ill watch again later when im not hungover.
cant do accents hungover.

no pressure, no diamonds

Hey Bikes, your post is great, 'Mean' has never bothered me. FTR has always been the place where you come to get ripped a new one. I'd rather someone do that than have someone suck my dick so I don't learn anything.
All your points are good, you've made me think about a bunch more stuff that I've never thought of before. You showcase why I'm still derping at 20NL and not moving up sucessfully.

Oh its amazing how horrible the /r/poker players are. Most are these fishy live guys.

I think one of the reasons why you see nitty play evolve like mine is because stuff like 3betting light puts me in really confusing situations when they call and I honestly struggle to navigate postflop out of position (and my opponents are very aggresive). I clearly need to get better at improving in those situations and attacking players. Its just hard (obviously not from your perspective) and trying to figure it all out is tricky, cause I tend to start hemorrhaging money when I try stuff like that (and I have when I tried to open up my play), whearas nitting up is the easy reliable (and as you point out, stagnant) solution.I also just need to think more about poker. Stuff like 3betting light a UTG rasier who folds all his non premiums to 3bets. It seems so obvious now, but that shit literally never occured to me. Your points opens doors in my brain to think and apply more, so thanks.

From the perspective of higer stakes regs, the vast majority of us microstakes players are complete retards. I thought I was playing a reasonably solid tight aggressive game at the micros, couldn't figure out why I was barely breaking even. Turns out I'm a retard.

Good to see OP take his slap down in the way he should, posts like bikes' last one are the reason I come to this site... we all could use some constructive critisism, some more than others.

I'll watch the vid when I get chance, not that I can add much but it'll be interesting to see how others play in certain spots.
