Spenda does what Spenda wants

A wise man learns from his own mistakes, and those of the smart man and the fool.

You kinda have to come up with really good responses now to make this not seem pathetic.

I don't think he's whining, Ill.

I do disagree with how Spenda seemed to slap those of us who took a stab at answering the questions is a schoolmarm-ish kinda way.

And FWIW, Spenda, you've been critisized in the past by some (former?) regs for not properly leading a learning discussion, even though your intent is sincere. Their criticism was harsh and in my opinion, unfruitful, and I choose to avoid that tone.

If there's a specific direction you want a thread to take, then please clarify it in the OP. Asking how we can exploit certain tendencies is a wide open question. This is the BC, and it's to be expected that responses would be on a basic level. More advanced replies should be prompted with the questioning.

I believe I speak for many here in the BC when I say we truly want the learning posts where regs can contribute, guide, and correct. Muzz's teaching post on ranges is a perfect example, and Stacks was able to step in an offer specific guidance to correct primary attempts. It was beneficial to many of us. Simply locking the thread and sending us to our rooms to think about it is not beneficial.

no offense, but 12 posts and no reputation?

anyhoo. spenda is fine. you guys have to learn how to deal with him. he is a poker player.....arrogant. we ALL are. you, me, him, and yes, him over there.

does it always transfer into nicey-nice commentary? no. is that right? maybe not.

but, i thought we came here to learn and improve. not to talk about cherry blossoms and barbie dolls.

i probably have some of the thinnest skin here, but if i can deal with it, i think you guys can, too. carry on.

We're generally not the most congenial folks around, and the internet lends itself to a more abrupt communication method that would normally be common in person. It's also a bit of a litmus test for noobs.

Keep in mind that we see a TON of new guys through every single week that don't really want to learn. They post rants, argue with the regs, and take criticism of thier play as unkind. They are soon gone and quickly forgotten. Stick around for a while, become a contributing member, and you'll find that it really is a tight community with very open and honest communication. We all have a common goal, and that is to improve. Since that is our goal, criticism is to be expected and welcomed.

Lolz I'm so confused. He didn't send us to our rooms. He simply asked for better, more advanced answers. If we don't have them, that's one thing, but honestly, Spenda wasn't mean or anything.

We are on a free forum with a small community of intelligent people who share a common interest in wanting to play the best poker possible. There's nothing about hand-holding there, IMO.

I don't have a solid rep. here, and I'm fine with that. People can ignore what I say, but Jesus Effing Christ if Spenda is going to help (more than he already has) then I'm going to take it, tough words or not.

I'm aware. My point was that people seemed upset with the tone with which Spenda acted. This thread seems like something that should occur after the threads are unlocked and we don't come up with better answers.

Maybe so, but that's a point for disagreement. My point is that Spenda spammed the same post in all three threads an locked them, with vague instructions. If you want to exploit based on ranges, equity and manipulation, we need some scenarios.

"How do you exploit passive PF play" is a wide topic. What 'better answers' are we looking for? Are we supposed to make up our own ranges? Pull scenarious out of our ass? I'm sorry, but that doesn't work becuase we'll end up with 15 different scenarios and the thread ends up as nothing but a bunch of tangents.

I'm not being harsh. I'm not upset with Spenda. But I'm the child of two teachers, and I'm married to a teacher. I've also been responsible for technical training in my field, so I know a little bit about the craft. If the goal is to instruct, you need defined parameters.

I understood what you meant, KBizzle. Side note, are you playing 25NL on Stars? I'm finding it softer than...10NL if that's possible.

FWIW, I have no issue with Spenda being harsh - this has helped my greatly in the past and jyms is right, he doesn't owe anyone anything.

FTR - spenda < FTR + spenda

For the second time this week:
FTR is better BECAUSE it's tough on new members. There's so much bad information out there and FTR deals with it by weeding out the people that spout off at the mouth with crap. If you get caught in the crossfire, well, that's poker.
Check out my self-deprecation here!

the things that disract me about spenda are his signature and avatar.

THIS IS SPENDA, is that really spenda? Looks like he is a Roman.

And the dancing chappie in a bear suit. I love that dance, I find myself in a trance watching the dancing bear. It looks like the avatar.

It fascinates me.Distracts me from reading his brief posts.

Spenda has aggravated me once or twice, but I've learned more about poker from him than probably anyone else. Small price to pay, if he does what he thinks is best in the BC. 'Cuz he helps us think better about poker.
