I am playing low stakes 0.50/1.00 dollar no limit holdem.
i am just wondering what peoples idea of a reasonable bankroll needed for this game to allow for swings.

$300 for a .5/1 NL game? You're nuts dude. The buyin at that table will be something to the tune of $100.
Using 'rilla's rules of thumb, minimum of $1k. Probably better off with closer to $2k.

i would agree with the rest for about 1200-1500.
300 you might be able to play at the 10--25 no limit tables.
peace

Wrong again!!
Rilla recommends 12-15 buyins, maybe 20 for 6-max.

I´d say 12-15 buy-ins + the psychological maturity of losing $400 in one day without starting to play bad.

bleh....it really does depend on how good the player is and your own comfort zone.
for any beginner i think 300BB limit or 30x NL ring will prevent them from going bust and will allow them to play without being "scared"
i do think however if you're a proven winning playing you can cut that bankroll down to 150BB and 15x.

It seams to me that these bankroll figures are often 50% smoke and mirrors. Like people who set their alarm clocks 10 minutes fast to "trick" themselves into getting up on time. Maybe it works for a little while, but not for long.
Example:
You want to have X to play that, but if you get down to half of it... drop in limits or cash out or whatever.
Obviously 1/2 of X was never meant to be use as part of the bankroll.. its just a psycological(sp?) thing. Maybe it works for other people, but I can't fool myself with this kind of thinking.
I wish there were a way to have two buckets of money on the sites. One for bankroll, the other for winnings. Use pool 1 for paying for X buyins, and all winnings end up in pool 2, rinse, repeat.

I'm really not sure if you need that much for a bankroll... I seemed to play fine with a tiny tiny bankroll on interpokers lowest NL limits (.5/1) and even at partypoker... In fact, I've never had a bankroll of 30x the buy in and I'm still doing fine!

After much deliberation. I've decided to make it 15-30 buyins to be bankrolled. It's a wide range, I know. 15 is if you're just playing 1 or 2 tables. For 3 or 4, you should be rolling with atleast 20-25. 30+ for the heavy pros.
